5 Signs They’re Genuinely Interested In You

1. They don’t take long to respond to you.

It’s fair to say that not everyone will be on their phone all the time. But when they’re invested in you, they’ll want to talk to you frequently. They’ll also want to make sure that you’re invested in them, too—they want to capture your attention and get you to talk to them more. This means that even those who aren’t great at online communication will respond to you more frequently than they would with others.

2. They remember small details about you.

If you’ve mentioned specifics about yourself and your life that are important to you, someone who’s interested in you should remember these things. Not paying attention to the important stuff is a big red flag that someone isn’t really interested in you. But someone who remembers even the small details about what you like and dislike is someone who is genuinely listening to you (and is interested in what you have to say). They want to impress you and get you to like them, so they’re taking the time to learn your interests and talk to you about them.

3. They show you their love language.

In the early stages of getting to know someone, they might not know your love language (and you might not know theirs). But if you take time to recognize the signs, you might be able to tell if they’re using one of their love languages on you. Someone who makes excuses to touch you frequently, someone who gets you small gifts, or someone who consistently makes detailed plans for the two of you to enjoy together could be showing appreciation for you through one of their love languages. These are all great indicators that someone is genuinely interested in you and is trying to express that interest the best way they know how.

4. They genuinely listen to you.

There’s a clear difference between someone who is waiting for their turn to speak and someone who is listening to what you have to say. Especially if you’re someone who’s not naturally talkative, you’ll probably notice when someone is listening to you authentically. They may ask you questions based on what you’re saying or just let you ramble on a subject you’re passionate about for a while. This is a great sign that they’re both demonstrating interest and genuinely trying to learn more about you as a person.

5. They make time to see you.

Someone who is interested in you will want to see you very frequently. If they’re putting every other plan in their life ahead of you, chances are they’re just using you as a backup for when they don’t have anything else to do. Someone who really likes you will make that clear by setting up time for the two of you to see each other regularly. That’s not to say that they need to throw away every other plan in their life for you, but that they’ll clear room in their schedule to see you on a regular basis and will reach out to you first when they have some extra time.
