6 Signs You Should Stay Single In July 2022
This summer doesn’t have to be about finding love. It can be about finding yourself, rediscovering a passion, uncovering a new interest, or spending time with the family and friends who mean the most to you. Here are a few signs that you should take a break from dating in July 2022:
You keep prioritizing other people’s needs above your own. If you always end up giving up pieces of yourself in a relationship, maybe you should stay single for a while. Focus on your own needs for a change. It’s not selfish to put yourself first. It’s important to learn how to do this so you don’t lose yourself in your next relationship.
You’re starting to feel like something is wrong with you. It’s not your fault that you haven’t found the right person yet. If dating has been making you feel insecure, then maybe you should take some time off from looking for someone and focus on reacquainting yourself with… yourself. Work toward loving and accepting the pieces of yourself that have always made you feel uncomfortable. And if there are changes you’ve been wanting to make, you can work on those too.
You can’t find anyone who meets your standards. You shouldn’t be lowering your standards in order to make a relationship work. Either the other person will rise to your expectations, or you should head for the door. Remember, you’re looking for love from the right person, not just any person. If they aren’t giving you what you deserve, then you shouldn’t waste another second with them. It’s better to be alone than to be with the wrong person.
You’re having a miserable time. If swiping through dating apps and making small talk makes you want to scream, then you don’t have to do it anymore. Even though it’s important to put yourself out there, your mental health shouldn’t be suffering because of it. There’s nothing wrong with staying single and having some fun. The right person might show up when you least expect it. And if they don’t, you can always return to those dating apps tomorrow. But if they’re making you miserable today, don’t waste time with them.
You’re still healing from a recent heartbreak (and still have feelings for your ex). If you can’t stop thinking about someone from your past, you might want to give yourself a break from dating. It wouldn’t be fair to someone new if you weren’t one hundred percent invested with them and were still daydreaming about someone else. And it wouldn’t be fair to you either. If you’re still healing, give yourself time to adjust to life without this person. Remind yourself what it feels like to be single again because it doesn’t have to be a negative.
You’re busy with other responsibilities. You don’t have to choose between a career and a relationship – but if you’re currently swamped with work and feel like looking for a relationship would bring you more stress than release, then you don’t have to date. You can stay single. You can focus on other things. Just because dating might be a priority for your friends or parents doesn’t mean that it needs to be a priority for you.
