A New Era Emphasizing Community and Freedom Just Began. Here’s Why the Next 18 Months will Change You Forever.

If the past couple of years have been defined by burnout, the next chapter in our collective story will almost certainly change the conversation. July 26 was the watershed moment, and the best is yet to come.

How can we be sure? Cycles and trends always come back around, and we’re due for some good times. In the astrological tradition, celestial events have long been understood as reflective of changing cultural perspectives. Roughly every eighteen months, the lunar nodes move into a new pair of zodiac signs, marking these significant times of fated change.

At the end of July, we went through one such pivot, ending an era of introspection and healing and beginning one that is more externally focused. Look around and you will almost certainly see the subtle signs: everyone is gradually becoming less restricted in their self-expression, leaning more towards playfulness, whimsy, and eccentricity.

If you feel like you’ve recently gotten your spark back, or woken from a bad dream, you’re not alone. For many people, the past year has felt like a lengthy convalescence, a hangover on a Sunday morning after a bender.

For a while now, there has been a fair amount of tension between dreams and reality, and many people have emerged from the struggle with different priorities and identities.

Now, suddenly, there seems to be more freedom.

If the last eighteen months have been the exam season, the next will feel like the summer abroad that you treat yourself to after graduation, or the music festival you drive all night to reach.

If you’ve grown tired of the bold, opulent, in-your-face extroversion that defined the influencer era, you’ll be pleased to know that the following year is unlikely to accelerate or reward this kind of narcissism. If anything, there will be a greater emphasis on community, friendship, altruism, and collaboration.

Over the next year, there will be many opportunities to celebrate individuality while working towards shared goals. Rather than seeking our own personal glory, we’ll be inclined to connect with new people who are similarly aligned with us.

Aesthetics are a mirror to culture, and the bright maximalism of this summer stands in stark contrast to the muted color palette of last season. We’re stepping into a brave new world, one where authenticity is not just a buzzword but something cultivated under serious pressure.

Simply put, this is an opportunity to heal your ego. Consider what is actually important to you in private when no one is paying attention, and not just what makes you look good to others.
