For All The Girls Who ‘Complain Too Much’

No, too much pessimism is never healthy – but that doesn’t mean you should pretend to be bubbly and happy all the time. Sometimes, there’s a good reason to be upset. There’s a good reason to speak out about what you’re feeling. And you shouldn’t let others shame you into keeping quiet and remaining polite in order to keep the peace. You shouldn’t let them make you feel guilty about saying what’s in your heart and on your mind. You are allowed to be loud. You are allowed to say what you want to say.

Sometimes, girls who complain too much are really girls who are vocal about their feelings. Girls who don’t hold back their thoughts and opinions because they understand that their ideas matter, that staying silent would only benefit the other person and keep them comfortable in a situation where they themselves are uncomfortable.

Sometimes, girls who complain too much are getting called out on their behavior because others want to put them down. They want these girls to stop complaining so that they don’t have to change, so that they can get away with treating the rest of the world unfairly, so they don’t have to own up to their actions and take accountability.

Sometimes, girls who complain too much aren’t doing anything wrong. They’re simply speaking their mind. They’re vocalizing their feelings. They’re being transparent instead of dancing around the issue or pretending everything is perfectly fine while they’re secretly dying inside.

Remember, there’s nothing wrong with pure, unfiltered honesty. You should be proud of yourself for having the courage to say what you’re really feeling instead of watering down your feelings in order to avoid confrontation. No, you shouldn’t be picking fights either, but it’s dangerous to stay quiet when you are feeling uncomfortable. If you never speak up, the treatment will continue. History will repeat over and over again.

Sometimes, girls who complain too much are simply girls who have standards. Girls who refuse to accept the bare minimum because they recognize their worth and understand that they are deserving of more. So please, don’t let anyone convince you that you need to dial down your complaints, or that you are too negative when that isn’t the case at all. The problem might not be in your behavior at all. It might be in the way that they are treating you, in what they are expecting you to let them get away with without a word.

Remember, you’re allowed to complain when you’re being treated unfairly. You’re allowed to express your feelings and demand more. It isn’t selfish. It isn’t heartless. You should be advocating for yourself. You should be standing up for yourself. You should be expecting the best from the people around you and doing something about it when you aren’t getting treated fairly.

Sometimes, girls who complain too much are simply girls who are speaking their mind without hesitation. Girls who are in touch with their emotions and courageous enough to tell the world what they’ve been thinking.
