If Your Person Doesn’t Do These 7 Things, You’d Be Happier Single

You don’t want to stay in a relationship where you’re doing most of the work, where you’re feeling unappreciated, where you aren’t valued or respected. You deserve a partner who treats you right. If your partner doesn’t do the following things, then you would probably be happier single:

If they don’t do more than the bare minimum, you would be happier single.

You shouldn’t be begging your person to answer your texts or spend quality time with you or complete their half of the chores. They should be doing the basics without you needing to ask. And the basics aren’t even enough. You deserve to be swept off your feet. You deserve to feel special.

If they don’t follow through on promises, you would be happier single.

You should feel confident that your partner means what they say. If they’re only telling you what you want to hear in the moment to keep you quiet, your trust will dissolve. Disappointment shouldn’t be a theme in the relationship. Your partner should do what they say they’re going to do. No excuses.

If they don’t show you respect, whether they’re in a good mood or a bad mood, you would be happier single.

It doesn’t matter whether your person is having the time of their life or falling over drunk after a long, hard day. Regardless of how they’re feeling, they should be treating you with kindness and respect. A bad day isn’t an excuse to treat you like a punching bag.

If they don’t trust you and you don’t trust them, then you would be happier single.

You should trust that your partner has your best interest at heart, that they genuinely wouldn’t do anything to hurt you. You’re never going to feel safe and comfortable with them if you’re doubting their intentions or their loyalty. You need someone you know has your back, one thousand percent.

If they expect you to do whatever they say and follow their ‘rules’, you would be happier single.

Just because you’re in a relationship doesn’t mean your freedom has been taken away. Your partner doesn’t get to make your choices for you. They don’t get to boss you around. They should respect your decisions because they respect you.

If they don’t support your dreams and show interest in your passions, you would be happier single.

Your person should be your biggest cheerleader. They should encourage you to chase after your wildest dreams when your doubts are holding you back. They should help you move forward, not anchor you in place or drag you backward.

If they don’t take accountability for their mistakes and act like they can do no wrong, you would be happier single.

No one is perfect. If your partner can’t admit when they’ve messed up and give you the apology that you deserve, then problems are never going to get solved. You both need to be willing to accept your faults, and grow and change, in order to keep the relationship healthy.
