It Is Better To Change Than To Not Change At All

Change is scary. So is the unknown and stepping outside of your comfort zone. But what’s scarier is staying stagnant. Staying in a place that is comfortable, familiar, and unalterable. Waking up every day, at the same time, doing the same thing over and over again. Experiencing life on replay and letting life happen without actually living it. That might just be the scariest thing of all.

Change is inevitable. From birth to death, life is just a result of a series of changes. It is synonymous with life, just as it is with growth. However, if I fear one thing in life, it is living the same day over and over again. Being too comfortable with being comfortable. Settling for the bare minimum because I’m fearful of the unexpected. Being too scared to take a risk or being too afraid that I’ll make the wrong decision when faced with one. But if I’ve learned one thing about life, it is that it is better to change than to not change at all. It is better to allow yourself to accept the natural changes of life and to open yourself up to opportunities that require things to change. It is far better to take a risk and fail than it is to not try at all. It is far better to find peace in a place of fear than it is to be sheltered in comfort.

Life will not get better by chance; it will get better by change. As they say, “Nothing changes if nothing changes.” You can’t expect that guy to message you back if you haven’t messaged him first. You can’t expect to get that promotion if you haven’t put in the work to get recognized for it. You can’t expect to travel around the world if you haven’t purchased the first plane ticket. You can’t expect to be loved if you haven’t opened yourself up to it. You can’t wake up in a bad headspace expecting to have a great day. Just as you can’t expect to have a great day if you’ve let that one shit thing ruin it.

If you’re waiting for something to change, this is your sign. This is your sign to step outside of your comfort zone and take a leap of faith. This is your sign to open yourself to the possibilities of what could be. This is your sign to run face-first into the unknown and experience all it has to offer.

This is your sign to make a change. And I promise you’ll thank yourself for it.
