It’s Time To Say Goodbye To Yet Another Challenging Year

It’s time to say goodbye to yet another challenging year. It’s time to say goodbye to the uncertainty and the confusion. The painful times and the lonely nights. The tears we’ve cried along the way and the days that felt like months. It’s time to leave all those dark nights and sad memories behind, because they’ve overstayed their welcome and there’s no place left for them in our lives. It’s time to say goodbye to the people who came into our lives and didn’t leave a positive mark. It’s time to say goodbye to those who broke our hearts.

Like any other year, this year was full of ups and downs, good and bad memories, laughter and tears. Maybe some people had a better year than others; some may have achieved their biggest dreams, and some may have found their forever people, while others may have had a harder one. Some lost their jobs or their loved ones. Some had to battle illnesses or battle demons, and some had more lessons than accomplishments, but the bottom line is, whatever this year has brought, it’s time to let it go and focus on what’s to come.

It’s time to let go of the stories that didn’t serve us, the people who didn’t play the parts we picked for them, the ones who let us down and disappointed us and the ones who made us feel like we’re not good enough. It’s time to let go of the moments we can’t stop replaying, the ones that kept us tossing and turning at night because we kept thinking that maybe if we had done things differently, we would have gotten a different outcome. It’s time to stop dwelling on what could have been because we want to leave this year with no regrets. We want to leave this year feeling better about ourselves and we want to leave this year loving ourselves a little bit more, wishing for more and feeling like we deserve all the best in life.

It’s time to say goodbye to the fears and the doubts, because we’re thinking too much of what could go wrong and we’re wondering if this is only the beginning or the end. It’s time to look at what we’ve endured and what we’ve survived and have faith in ourselves that we will be able to overcome the obstacles that come our way. It’s time to let go of our own failures and our mistakes, because we are still learning and we may not always get it right, but we’re trying and we’re hoping and we can’t go on carrying the weight of our guilt and mistakes. We can’t float if we keep dumping on ourselves everything we’ve done wrong.

It’s time to say goodbye to the heaviness that has brought us down and broke our spirits. It’s time to release the residues of it all. It’s time to leave all the mess and start over, because a new year doesn’t guarantee a new life, but it’s a good chance to adopt a new mindset, a lighter spirit, and a more hopeful outlook. It’s a good chance to give ourselves a deadline for grief and self-pity. It’s a good chance to give ourselves a date to start doing the things we’ve been postponing. A new year doesn’t always mean that everything will be perfect, but it means that we have a chance to start writing a different story. It’s a blank page to start creating a different reality if the old one has run its course.

I hope you get to write a wonderful story this time, and I hope it unfolds exactly the way you want it. And like I say every year, I hope this is your year.
