Read This When Your Dreams Feel Impossible

I know that right now life feels more difficult than you can handle. Maybe you are living in a new city or starting a brand new job. Maybe this is your first year of college or you are finally returning to school after years of being away from it. Beginnings are not always going to be easy. There is a lot of trial and error that we all must go through when we start on a path we have never taken before.

I know that some days it feels impossible to get out of bed. The anxiety creeps over you inch by inch and you begin to feel like you will never be able to free yourself. I am here to tell you that you will.

Anxiety is not something that you might ever be completely free of, but you can begin to give yourself the comfort and confidence that you deserve. Each step forward is a win. Each step forward means success. And even when you falter, you are still succeeding because you tried. You can fail one thousand times, and still, you will be succeeding. If you never try something, then you will never know what the outcome could have been.

Life is all about learning. We learn new skills every day, and I think we need to celebrate that fact more. The more we try and the more we fail, the more we learn. If you always got every single answer right on the first try, how would you ever learn anything new? How would you ever open your mind up to the possibility of something else being out there when all you are focusing on is one direct answer and one direct path?

We put too much pressure on ourselves to succeed. We measure success through the achievement of perfection. But what even is perfection? What I envision as my perfect life will surely be different from yours and everyone else around me. If perfection does not have one all-defining definition, how can we hold ourselves to attaining such an elusive goal? How can any of us be perfect if the definition of perfect changes every second? All we are doing is setting ourselves up to feel inferior. And this feeling couldn’t be any further from the truth.

Wherever you are right now, no matter how much you might feel unworthy of this new path you are on, you have to remind yourself that you deserve to be there. There is a reason you were chosen for this new job in this new city. There is a reason you were accepted into the college you are attending and the rigorous program you are studying. There is a reason you are here on this earth. There is a reason for you. And I hope you stick around to uncover it and see it through.

Even on your worst days when everything you are doing feels wrong, remember why you stepped onto this new path that you are on. No matter how small the voice that tells you that you deserve to be where you are might be, I hope you always take the time to listen to it. Even the smallest corner of your soul deserves to be listened to, and I hope you never convince yourself otherwise. You owe it to yourself and to that tiny voice pushing you forward to give your dreams a chance.

The quietest words of encouragement can still lead to the most amazing things. I hope you give yourself the chance to see how far those words can take you.
