The Truth Is, If You Love Them, You Can’t Just Let Them Go
A lot of people say that in love, you must know when to hold on and when to let go. And while I do think it is important, it is easier said than done.ย
When youโve given your all, how are you supposed to just walk away? When youโve loved them with every fiber of your being so that their names flow through your veins, how do you turn your back on them? When every bone in your body aches for their touch, how do you erase the memory of holding them close to you? How do you let them go when every part of you doesnโt want to?
Truth to be told, you donโt.ย
Keep giving them your all, even though there is already nothing left of you. Keep loving them with every fiber of your being, let their name flow through your veins, and let it hurt. Let every bone in your body ache for their touch and cling to them.ย
When the person you love leaves, there is no shame in holding on. Hold onto them as if you were holding onto a rose full of thorns; it doesnโt matter how much you bleed because what you have is beautiful. Love them wholeheartedly because itโs all youโve ever known. Have hope that they will miraculously change their mind and come running back to you. If youโre having trouble letting them go, that is okay.ย
Letting go of the person you love doesnโt happen in an instant. Letting go happens when youโre ready. So go on, drain yourself of everything you have, because I believe that at some point, your own heart will tell you that itโs time. It might take weeks, months, or maybe a few years, but youโll feel it in your bones and know that itโs time to accept that what you had with them is now just a distant memory, that holding them close to you can now only be felt in your dreams and they will never come back.ย
It gets to a point where you realize that no matter how much you love someone, fighting a war that has already been lost isnโt worth it.ย No matter how much you love someone, there is still an ounce of self-respect and love hidden within you, and it will show itself to help you let go of what you once loved so dearly, and thatโs when it starts. Thatโs when your process of letting go starts.
