This Is How We Find Our Way Back To Each Other Again

I can find it in sunsets

I can find it in flowers

I can find it in warm cups of tea

   in familiar flavors

I can find it on long walks

   in forests

   on sandy beaches

I can find it under the stars

I can find it in the softness of morning

Now that I know it’s there

Now that I know it’s everywhere

I have been looking for it and finding it in people too

In those holding the door open 

In those letting someone go first

In those lending a hand

In those giving someone going a little slower some time to pass

In a smile, a gentle word, in an understanding 

I am finding it in those short interactions that are the thread holding us all together 

Compassion is the quickest way to connection.

I am finding the kindness that exists in the space we share

It’s there in the long heart filled conversations that spill through the air like wet paint making abstract art 

It’s in the warmth of being there, holding hands with one losing life and leaving this world

It’s in the moments that we will never get back

In knowing you are in the presence of people that really see you and believe in you 

I am finding it more and more 

This feeling that once seemed as far as the stars is now the surrounding light 

I want to be apart of it more and more 

Flowing love through this world in a big and small way

Softening all the places in my mind and heart that have been hardened by defeat and pain 

Allowing this new perspective to make a path and find its way

To share experience 

to give when I can 

rest when I need to 

start everyday open again 

At sunset I want to know that my love is with all the colors blending spread across the sky
