11 Married Couples Reveal What You Should Really Ask For On Your Wedding Registry
โMy fiance and I wish we put more honeymoon-specific things on our registry. Someone just paid for us to go on a sunset cruise next week and it was such a great idea that we wished we had thought of doing more things like that. See if you can buy tickets to an event or vouchers for something at your honeymoon in advance!โ โ runboyrun96
โAppliances that you will actually need, like a vacuum cleaner, or a microwave, or if youโre moving into a house, a washer/dryer or oven. Donโt ask for appliances that โwould be nice if I didnโt have to buy itโ but you wouldnโt really use it. We asked for a blender and a hand mixer. In the eight years weโve been married, weโve used them maybe three or four times. Use the vacuum and microwave all the time.โ โ minishaff
โReally nice pillows. Didnโt cross our minds at the time, fast forward a few years later and we sprung for some. We get great mileage out of them every day which canโt be said for everything else we did register for.โ โ soursurfer
โMy husband couldnโt believe I wanted to register for a really nice kitchen garbage bin. It cost almost $200. It definitely wasnโt something Iโd go out of my way to spend that money on on my own, but itโs something I always wanted. He made fun of me forever for how excited I got when someone bought it for us. Five years later we use it every single day, and our kitchen doesnโt smell no matter what goes in there. Best gift ever!โ โ chesterT3
โCleaning stuff. Bedding. Towels. Rugs. Curtains. Light bulbs. All the little things really really add up. Hobbies KitchenAid Mixer. These things last forever. You will at some point go into crazed like baking spell for a month or so.โ โ mynameisnotborli
โTools. A good saw, socket set, drill, anything reallyโฆ would sure have come in handier than all these goddam cake pans. WEโRE NEVER BAKING A FUCKING MULTI TIERED CAKE WHY DO WE HAVE THESE?โ โ [deleted]
โBoard Games! My wife and I love board games but have a hard committing to the heavy cost of getting our own. Got some games from my cousins as a wedding gift and it was awesome! Not something I ever would have thought to put on there myself but now I definitely would.โ โ Landonian22
โMy husband and I had already been living together for six months and we blended two households of stuff. We asked for Lowes and Home Depot gift cards. Best gifts ever. New sinks and bathroom tile is what we got with those.โ โ klsprinkle
โA good kitchen knife. Sheets, so very many sheets. Stack them up in a closet. Break out a fresh new set when needed.โ โ openletter8
โGet some stuff for yourself. Pick a few hobbies and register for those items. A wedding is to celebrate you! So get what you enjoy.โ โ HitNRun_
โOne suggestion I have is if you receive some ugly gift, or some family heirloom, make sure the person who gave it to you didnโt stick money somewhere in that ugly gift or heirloom. I read a Mad Magazine where they did a โMad look at weddings.โ The newlyweds threw out an ugly gift, only to have the relative who gave it ask about all the money that was in it. That stayed etched in my mind. Lo and behold, my wife and I get some book on how to be a good married couple. We both laughed since we felt we would not need it. As she was setting it in a donate pile. I stopped her and opened the book and found a couple hundred dollars in it and a note from the relative wishing us well.โ โ Fanabala3
