It’s Okay To Miss Them
I donโt think that we are meant to ever completely forget someone. Letting go doesnโt have to mean erasing someone from your memory. There will come a day when you realize that you can no longer wait for them to come back. Sometimes, the past is just thatโa moment in time that we treasured but is sadly no longer with us.ย
When someone makes an impact on your life, I donโt think you can ever truly let them go. What you can do is allow yourself to move forward. You can allow yourself to make room for more people and more adventures to fall in love with. Just because you lost them doesnโt mean you cannot look back fondly on the time you did have with them. The end of a relationship doesnโt invalidate the way you felt while you were in it. Yes, the relationship ended for a reason, but that doesnโt mean you have to force yourself to forget all of the good reasons you stayed together before things came to an end.
You are allowed to think back on all of the times they made you laugh. You are allowed to remember the love they showed you, and you are allowed to enjoy that memory. Losing someone doesnโt mean you have to lose all of the memories, too. If you loved them, itโs okay to acknowledge that you did, even if it didnโt work out.ย
If you stay in those memories too often, however, you risk missing out on all of the new ones you could be creating. Itโs okay to let yourself take that first step. Itโs okay to let yourself love again. Itโs okay to acknowledge that you have loved and lost.ย Just donโt make yourself believe that you have to stay lost forever.ย
You are allowed to love their memory, but you do not have to make a home in it.ย
I donโt know if you will ever stop missing them or if you should have to. Itโs okay to miss someone.ย
What a gift it was to have had someone to miss so much.
