The Munsters

Here’s Why Horror Fans Should Give Rob Zombie’s ‘Munsters’ Film A Chance

Rob Zombie is known for pushing boundaries with his gory, controversial films; however, he is dipping his toes in less bloody waters with an upcoming family friendly movie. Long-time fan of the original 1960s series The Munsters, Zombie took it upon himself to revive it into a full length film. Rob Zombie’s The Munsters will of course star the beautiful stars Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, as well as Jeff Daniel Phillips, Daniel Roebuck, Richard Brake and Sylvester McCoy. Skipping a theatrical release, the film will be streamed on Universal’s Peacock streaming service. The original Munsters series is also available on Peacock.

Upon the initial announcement, fans of both The Munsters and Zombie had mixed feelings. Many jumped to the conclusion that if Zombie was involved the film would surely be R-rated. However, Zombie put those rumors to rest on a recent Instagram post.

“For those of you speculating, wondering and assuming that THE MUNSTERS would be dirty, violent and nasty… well, you are wrong. It’s all good down on Mockingbird Lane. #themunsters #robzombie”

And the fans are here for it.

This actually really intrigues me. I’ve never seen the Munsters but love the 90’s Addams Family movies so I hope it has a similar tone:

That’s a good thing. Not a fan of all his movies but he’s got talent and he genuinely loves Munsters. Interested to see what he does with a kids movie.

Not surprised… Everything I’ve seen suggests that while Zombie’s certainly putting his stamp on it, he’s not been drifting *too* far tonally. This sounds about right for that.

The only question I have is whether he’s going to use Dragula in the soundtrack.

Now this is a good sign. I’m glad it seems he’s keeping the tone close to the tv show. I look forward to this movie. Though I wonder if this is Zombie’s first non-rated R film? If so, this could be a nice insight in his range.

Good. I was honestly worried he was going to make it a gritty reboot or something. But if he’s making something for fans of the show that’s actually great.

I always loved this show on Nick and Nite growing up. I loved it more than the Addams Family
