Here’s Why Women Who Live Alone Make The Best Girlfriends

They don’t have roommates, they don’t live with their parents. Women who live alone have their own places, and space to fill them in whatever way they want. That includes who they choose to date. Women who live alone make the best girlfriends. Here’s why:

We can take care of ourselves. Plenty of people feel like they’re independent, but you can never really know for sure unless you spend time alone. Women who live alone have proven that they can do anything without the help of others. We know we can take care of ourselves because we do it every day. With a woman who lives alone, you know that she’s letting you take care of her because she wants you to, and not because she has to.

We’re interesting, varied people. According to psychologists, women who live alone spend much more time pursuing their interests than men who live alone. In fact, it’s a 65% versus 49% split. That means that a woman who lives alone has already embraced her hobbies, from knitting hats for dogs to blasting fools in Call of Duty. In other words, women who live alone are anything but boring.

We don’t have roommate drama. Nothing kills the mood like listening to your girlfriend complain, yet again, about how her roommate stole her food and never does the dishes. Even if she isn’t the center of the drama, having roommate drama in general is a drain on everyone’s energy. But not with the women who live alone. We are pleasantly drama-free–at least when it comes to roommates.

We’re a lot less likely to be clingy. We get it–you hate when your girlfriend is clingy. On the plus side, that’s a lot less likely to happen with a woman who lives alone. We’ve already gotten a taste of freedom and love it. We aren’t going to be clamoring to cuff ourselves to whomever we end up dating. That doesn’t mean we won’t commit. It just means that you likely won’t feel stifled like you might from a girl who’s afraid to be alone.

We’ll only keep people around if they add something to our lives. With the taste of freedom acquired from living alone, we aren’t likely to date people just for the sake of having a “plus one.” If a woman who lives alone chooses to date you, that must mean you’re special. Prove her right by treating her like that absolute catch that she is.

We won’t move in with you unless we really want to. Once you get a taste of living alone, there’s no turning back. The only way a woman who has experienced that kind of independence will even think of living with someone else is if it’s the real deal. You can know that we aren’t living with you because of necessity or because we can’t be alone. We’re living with you because we’ve finally found someone worth sharing space in both our homes and our hearts.
