‘Resolution Dating,’ And The 3 Other Top Dating Trends Of 2023

A new year means new dating trends. The dating experts over at Dating.com administered a survey to suss out the top dating trends to look out for in 2023. Here are their findings.

1. Resolution Dating

First up, resolution dating. The survey found that 57% of respondents recently ended a relationship because the partnership didn’t match their personal goals and values. As well, 60% of respondents stated that they’d slow down on a relationship if their partner’s behaviors and habits got in the way of them reaching their own fitness, wellness, or career goals.

2. Budget Dating

In 2023, expect more monogamy (but not for the reasons you’d think). 61% of singles surveyed reported that they’d prefer to date one person at a time in 2023 (versus multiple). And why? To save money on first dates. Inflation. It be rough.

3. Virtual Relationships

Interestingly, 33% of respondents said that they planned to date using the metaverse in 2023. The thought behind this is that these singles hope to put a greater focus on communication and digital intimacy (before meeting IRL).

4. LDRs

And finally, expect long-distance relationships to become more and more commonplace. Because of technological advances, there are now ample opportunities to meet people anywhere and anytime. A third of singles surveyed said they are open to relationships with those who are not in their current city, state, or country. Because of trends that came about within the last few years, including prioritizing travel and exploration instead of settling down, many people are looking at relationships in a more flexible, open way.
