These 4 Asteroid Goddesses Bring Feminine Magic To Your Birth Chart

When it comes to Astrology, there is a complex web of information to take-in. The signs, planets, houses, etc all hold their special meanings and significations — but the asteroids are becoming increasingly popular and incorporated into modern practices. Maybe you’ve come across the names of Ceres, Juno Pallas and Vesta on your astrological journey. Their archetypes and influence adds a brand new layer to this ancient practice.

This particular group of asteroids were discovered in the early 1800s, thanks to modern telescopes and their size. They sit and travel in a belt between Mars and Jupiter, and are thought to be the reminients or graveyard of a much older solar system. Since their discovery, some like Ceres and Vesta have been promoted to minor planets.

In the practice of Astrology these asteroids add the seemingly missing feminine nature of our beings and psyches. The zodiac signs and the wheel represent masculine and feminine energy as equal counterparts that sustain each other — but when it comes to the planets, the masculine archetypes drastically outweigh the feminine, with the Moon and Venus being the only representation. The Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn have strong masculine tendencies and influence. Mercury, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are all rather androgynous as they exhibit both– but it’s important to note that their archetypes are masculine figures. When reviewing masculine and feminine through the astrological lens, it is important to remove the modern view of gender. They are simply speaking to the yin and yang energies within all of us, where the masculine is typically more direct and outgoing and feminine is more reserved and receptive.

The Goddesses, through their placements in our charts and transits, awaken the feminine qualities within. They bring a little more equality into the picture and add yet another layer to the meaning of our life’s journey. Astrologers, like Demetra George, started to work with the Goddesses in the 1970s and set the foundation for their growing use today.

Ceres the Goddess of Agriculture and Grain

The Earth Mother, associated with the harvest and the biological rhythms and processes, including fertility and plant growth. It was believed that Ceres created the 4 seasons. After her daughter Persephone , was kidnapped and wed to Hades (Pluto), she struck a deal and was able to get her back for half the year. Ceres would weep during the fall and winter months, causing death and decay to the vegetation. Persephone’s return signaled the start of spring, when the Earth would come alive again.

In the birth chart Ceres can point to how we nourish and care for ourselves, and those we love. She can speak to the experience we have with our own mothers or mother figures, and how we handle grief. Her major themes are the nurturing role, sustainability and coping with loss/sorrow.

Juno the Goddess of Marriage and Commitment

The Queen of the Gods, wife of Jupiter. Juno was a faithful and loving partner, but her husband notably liked to get around. She remained loyal to him, but would seek revenge on her husband’s lovers. She was revered as a good wife and seen as his equal in the partnership.

Juno’s placement in our natal charts brings up themes of loyalty and equality in partnership, as well as how we go about approaching such commitments. Her sign and house placement will speak to what our ideal partnership looks and feels like. Juno can also indicate enter contracts, from both romantic and business standpoints. Themes of justice may arise, and it can be especially helpful to check-in and make sure that the deal we are getting is fair. Juno points to where we can be committed to our own fault.  Her relationship and position in synastry charts speak to the lasting-power of relationships.

Pallas the Goddess of War and Wisdom

Born completely from Zesus’s (Jupiters) mind and fully-clad in armor, Pallas-Athenia was one boss babe. Many went to her for her wisdom and guidance, but she was especially skilled in the art of war and strategy. She all gets associated with patterns, weaving and craftsmanship as she has a diverse set of skills. Revered for her dynamic mind, she was considered to be an oracle, mixing her strong sense of claircognizance. She is how we blend the process of gathering information and using our intuition

Her placement can speak to where we have great amounts of intelligence and even genius-like qualities. This is where and how we exhibit our wisdom and how we can utilize our own mental acuity. Her position shows us where we need to integrate our outgoing and masculine qualities and how we can take the lead.

Vesta the Goddess of the Sacred Flames and Virginity

Vesta points to virtue and sexuality. The vestal virgins were special priestesses given the responsibility to keep the sacred flame to protect villages and cities. They also had the duty of cleansing the soldiers from the horrors they witnessed and encountered in battle. She is associated with the hearth, fire and a greater purpose.

This Goddess not only shows the way in which we approach physical intimacy and sex, but other things or acts we consider sacred. We can look at this placement for how to light our own fire and share that with the world. A prominent Vesta may also give the native a strong purpose or duty that is much higher or larger than themselves. Her position by sign and house may show where we put our faithful efforts. It’s an area of life where we are incredibly devoted.

It Doesn’t Stop With the Goddesses

The Goddesses add a more indepth layer to our charts. Other than these four divas, there are actually around 35,000 near Earth asteroids and counting. While Ceres, Juno, Pallas and Vesta hold a special place as being among the first and most sizable to be discovered. They couldn’t keep the Greek/Roman trend up for long, so these objects began being given arbitrary names, after people, places and things. Even so, some would argue the random asteroids can hold significance. You can use the asteroid calculator on Astro-seek to locate the Goddesses and other asteroids in your chart.
