This Woman’s Murder at Her Gym Was Caught on Camera

It started off as a typical love story, but there wasn’t a happily ever after ending. They met on Tinder in 2016 and began dating. TikTok account, Okthatscreepy, posted a video explaining the story of Joshua Stimpson, 26, and Molly McLaren, 23.

Devastating Outcome

She ended the relationship for good in June 2018, and just twelve days later, he murdered her in broad daylight outside of her gym.

Shortly after McLaren broke it off with Stimpson, he was seen purchasing a knife and a pickaxe.

She Had Concerns About His Actions

The day she was murdered, she posted on her Instagram page that she was about to head to her gym. She had told her friends that she was concerned that Joshua was following her. While she was at the gym working out, he showed up and set up a mat near her. When she noticed he was there, she approached him and shortly after, he left the gym.

Murdered in the Gym Parking Lot

Stimpson waited in the car for McLaren to exit the gym, and then stabbed her 75 times as she was getting into her car. According to a news story in The Sun UK Edition, “Police allege that a witness to the attack, Benjamin Morton, tried to pull the 26-year-old off Molly as she screamed. It is also said that he tried to close the car door on Stimpson’s leg which was hanging out of the vehicle, but he moved inside and carried on his attack.” Morton later told police that Stimpson continuously stabbed McLaren, mainly in her neck area. The article also stated other ex-girlfriends had issues and were stalked by Stimpson after breaking up. “Alexandra Dale, who gave evidence over a TV link, said after she broke things off with him he called her repeatedly and she found her car tires had been slashed.”

Stimpson admitted to manslaughter but denies murder. He was arrested at the scene of the crime and given a life sentence with a minimum of 26 years.

Finding a Positive Outcome

McLaren’s friends and family set up the Molly McLaren Foundation to raise funds to help groups that support people with eating disorders. McLaren battled with bulimia and anxiety for much of her life, and her family and friends wanted to create a legacy in her honor.
