I prefer horror movies where people actually survive. esp in found footage, which I think far too many try too hard to lean into the "found" aspect. To the point that it makes the entire premise make 0 sense.

Halloween H20 (20 years later) is underrated and jumpscares shouldn't count as horror. Needing jumpscares to make a movie chilling or scary is like a comedian having to tickle people to make them laugh. We need creepy ones that are psychological and not cheap scares.

jumpscares are also literally a non issue if you broaden your horizons on the horror movies you watch like there are so many subgenres that don’t overuse <3 if you watch more then most movies you watch won’t have them or won’t have many so you don’t even think about them as “bad”

Malignant is an excellent campy slasher movie. People are so used to serious approaches to horror these days, like A24 or IFC Midnight, they forgot that fun horror movies exist too.

Cgi in monster movies are equal sometimes better than practical effects

Horror as a genre is very overrated and over saturated with films that are either some crappy ghost related movie, some ableist tropes or a completely unnecessary gore fest. There are good horrors out there but they’re overshadowed by some absolute schlock
