When To See The Full Buck Moon, Based On Where You Live In The US

The full moon in Capricorn (also called the Buck Moon) is all about finding the grit and determination to follow things through to the end—and to celebrate and be proud of how far you’ve come. But when exactly is the full moon?

The Buck Moon, named for its correlation to the time of year that male deer begin growing their new antlers, will light up the sky on July 10, 2025. But just because it will appear full to us throughout the entire night (as well as the evening before and after), there’s only a small sliver of time where the moon will actually be full. In fact, when the Buck Moon is at full illumination, we likely won’t even be able to see it.

That’s because the Buck Moon will go full at 4:37 p.m. EST, hours before sundown in US cities. For astrological purposes, though, this is when the powers of the moon will be most potent—so if you’re planning on doing a ritual or have been keeping track of your own zodiac sign, the timing is particularly important.

But don’t worry—the moon will still appear completely full once the sun does go down. Depending on your current time zone, here’s when you can expect the moon to rise:

Eastern Daylight Time (New York): 8:53 p.m.

Central Daylight Time (Chicago): 7:18 p.m.

Mountain Daylight Time (Phoenix): 6:26 p.m.

Mountain Standard Time (Denver): 7:20 p.m.

Pacific Daylight Time (Los Angeles): 6:53 p.m.

So if you’re hoping to charge your crystals or make moon water (by setting a container of water out in the moonlight), your time is almost here—be sure to set an alarm so you don’t forget!
