17 Better Dates Than Dinner And A Movie

“A picture date. My wife and I sometimes go out with 1 camera (I have a DSLR) and we will take turns taking pictures of the same thing. Then at the end we will sit down to eat while we look and compare the different takes of the same thing. I will take a picture how I feel like it should be shot and she will do the same so a lot of the time there are big differences in the same photo. We enjoy it.” — Sean_Ivity

“Go to a planetarium. Reasons: Usually either a very cheap or free experience. Reclining and watching the stars.” — Haephestus

“Botanical gardens. This was my favorite museum and was a nice go-to for a low-pressure, cheap (or free, depending on what you did afterward) second or third date.” — Eurynom0s

“Picnic!! Seriously fellas! Do this shit. Plan that shit for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Go to Walmart or whatever comparable store you have near you and get a picnic basket. Then do some motherfucking research. Figure out how to make a good ass chicken salad. Make some during the week and have one of your buddies or your mom try that shit and make sure it’s good first. Make a nice batch of that, or hell even peanut butter and jelly works too and my girlfriend love them so that’s what I made. Pack up some beers, and chips or some sort of a side. Make sure you have a nice little blanket and shit too.” — adamdeluxedition

“Ice skating. Especially if you have a rink that also has a bar.” — 2_Sheds_Jackson

“One of my favorite first dates was when a guy brought me to a minor league hockey game in town, and bought some drinks. It was inexpensive and a good environment to get to know him.” — dontmakemepoop

“My husband and I have LEGO dates. We buy a set and build it while watching a movie or TV show (one we’ve seen so we know what’s going on while we build) and usually booze. Sometimes will get two small sets, but usually something in the $35-50 range has enough that it’s easy to split up between us. Every so often we’ll have a rebuild date, where we break stuff apart and make new things with the parts. Made an awesome treehouse once.” — socialpronk

“Aquarium, zoo, or museum. Something that gets you walking and gives you a lot to talk about so if the conversation lags you can pick it up easily.” — Shigglypuff

“Something that gets you out of your shell. Something like… a carnival. Go for a rollercoaster ride. Something that gets the blood pumping.” — SkullKidFranky

“On the first date with my now fiance, I showed him a nearby geocache. He thought I was nerdy and had strange hobbies. He was hooked.” — AlienFartPrincess

“Kayaking and other outdoor activities are great if you’re dating someone who’s athletic. If your city has a large body of water nearby, kayak rentals can go for $10-$15 an hour and you can see neat stuff. Lots of schools with aquatic athletic programs like crew will also offer student discounts too. I’ve also taken a few girls who were interested in rock climbing to a bouldering gym.” — [deleted]

“Walk in a park. I loved it when guys did this for dates. It shows they’re interested in talking and spending time with me unlike the cinema and that they like parks! Plus if you go to a good one there’ll be stuff to talk about. Feed the ducks etc.” — Acyts

“Mini golf is a great first date. It’s silly enough to have fun and not care about winning, but also you can still talk shit cause a win is a win.” — Thugzz_Bunny

“One of the best first dates I had was at a book store. We showed each other some of our favorite authors and genres, and picked out a book for the other one to read. Our book store had a Starbucks inside, so then we had coffee and talked about interests and hobbies. The relationship didn’t work out, but it was a solid first date.” — [deleted]

“Shooting pool. It’s a lot of fun, plus since you’re doing an activity, it helps when it comes to avoiding awkward conversation and first date jitters.” — lolalodge

“My boyfriend and I took an archery class not too long ago, and we both had a blast. Super fun, different, and reasonably priced.” — [deleted]

“Go to the nearest Target together and pick out a board game neither of you have tried before. Go to a coffee shop or hotel lobby, get drinks, and learn to play the game together.” — natasharevolution
