30 Things You Can Do In The Next 10 Minutes To Completely Turn Your Day Around

Feeling stuck? Maybe you’re battling a bit of depression, are currently hating your work, or maybe you’re just bored. Whatever the case, it sounds like you need help making your day better. The odds are good that you have ten minutes free to do something about it. Even the littlest change can make a big difference. Try one of these 30 things to do in the next 10 minutes to make your day better. You got this!

1. Google the nearest Little Free Library. There’s a good chance you have one within walking distance. Gather up any books that you know you won’t read again and set them by your door so you can bring them to the little library box the next time you leave. Pick up something new to read while you’re there.

2. Eat the healthiest snack you can find. A handful of almonds? Some carrots? Whatever it is, give yourself some energy with the healthiest food you have on hand.

3. Drink a tall glass of cold water. Not coffee, not soda. Actual water. Hydrate, baby.

4. Send that text that scares you. If you’ve been stressing about sending a text–maybe to ask out your crush–just go for it. Make things happen.

5. Actively make the plans you’ve been talking about for forever. Have you been talking about visiting hot springs with friends or going camping with family? Turn it from a “someday” to a concrete reality.

6. Write two sentences of the novel you’ve been wanting to write. You’ve had the idea in your head a while. Or maybe you started it ages ago but have been stalled. Take ten minutes to write just two sentences. Maybe it’ll give you the kick you need.

7. Clean off the surface that has been quietly annoying you. Messy desk? Cluttered kitchen counter? Annoying catchall table where all your junk mysteriously ends up? Clear it off and clear your mind.

8. Flip a coin. Have you been having a tough time making a decision lately? Time to finally decide. Flip a coin and go with wherever it lands. No more indecision!

9. Take a shower. Wash away the blah vibe you’ve been walking around with all day. Sometimes a quick shower is all you need to snap you out of it.

10. Put on your favorite outfit. Who cares that you don’t have anywhere to go? Or that it may be a little too dressy for a visit to the grocery store? If it makes you feel happy and beautiful, put it on right now!

11. Wear your gaudiest jewelry. Quit waiting for an occasion to wear those colorful dangly earrings. Make now the moment.

12. Walk around the block. Just get outside. Experience the world around. Move your body.

13. Do a quick yoga session. Even just a few minutes of stretching can put you in a better mood. If you need a guided session, Youtuber Yoga With Adriene has a bunch of free 10-minute yoga videos, including 10 Minute Morning Yoga.

14. Tell someone you love them. Family, friend, partner. Whoever it is, tell them how much they mean to you. You’re uplifting someone else’s day including your own, which is always nice.

15. Start an upbeat Spotify playlist. Gather up all your favorite uplifting songs and start a Spotify playlist. The next time you need a pick-me-up, you can turn to that playlist to help you get in a better mood.

16. Plan a little road trip. Want to go somewhere nearby and the idea of a boring road trip just doesn’t appeal to you? Map it out with Make My Drive Fun. It’s a free website that shows you a bunch of fun places to stop while on your drive. And even if you don’t actually plan on going anywhere, it might get you hyped for making plans in the future.

17. Go outside and experience the weather. Is it sunny? Soak in the rays. Raining? Let the raindrops wash over you. Whatever it is, take a moment to really feel it. Let your thoughts still and your attention go to how this weather feels on your skin, in your hair.

18. Pick out a fun recipe to follow tonight. Search online for a recipe you’ve never tried and write up a shopping list.

19. Set a 10-minute timer and just clean. It feels like 10 minutes isn’t enough to make a difference, but it really is. Just set the timer and see how much you can actually get done.

20. Figure out one concrete thing you can do today to achieve your dreams. Quit thinking of your goals and dreams as these nebulous things you can’t control. There has to be at least one thing you can do today to start making it happen, even if it’s just a bit of research.

21. Write a haiku. Just three lines, five syllables, seven syllables, five syllables. It doesn’t have to be good. It just has to exist.

22. Strike up a conversation with someone new. If you’re going to be around people in the next ten minutes, talk to someone you’ve never talked to before. Say hello. Exercise your social skills.

23. Find bloopers for your favorite movie. Search your favorite movie with the terms “bloopers” or “gag reel.” This is the ultimate pick-me-up.

24. Sit in silence, no electronics. Put your phone and computer on the other side of the room and just sit with your thoughts. No distractions, just you for ten minutes.

25. Go barefoot in the grass. Take your shoes off and let the earth speak to you from the bottoms of your feet. It might sound silly, but it’s a great way to bring you back to reality if you’ve been in your head lately.

26. Read from that book you’ve been meaning to finish. You probably won’t finish the book in the next 10 minutes, but you’ll be that much closer.

27. Draw something. Anything. Just get it on paper. It doesn’t have to look good.

28. Find three things to donate or throw away. Walk around your home and pick three things you don’t use or need anymore. Decide if they can be salvaged. If not, toss them. If yes, set them aside to be donated. You’re getting rid of clutter and potentially helping someone in need.

29. Think about what you really want. Sit with your thoughts and evaluate where in your life is lacking. What’s making you feel down or dissatisfied today? It might be time for a change.

30. Emergency dance party! When all else fails, juts put on some dance music and move your body with abandon.
