5 Spiritual Practices To Welcome Spring/Aries Season
Spring is here, one of the most magical times of the year. Just as the Earth around us comes back to life, we too can use this revitalizing energy to carry us through-out the year. The Spring Equinox always marks the start of Aries Season, when the Sun moves into this enthusiastic fire sign, we are all born again — metaphorically speaking of course. It’s a time of renewal and a fresh start — and spirituality should be treated as such. Below are some ways you can connect to the spirit of spring.
Spring Cleansing
We’re all aware of spring cleaning, well, you can always take it a step further and cleanse the energy in your home too! After you’ve physically cleaned the home and cleared out any clutter, a good energy cleanse will get the space just right. The most common and popular way to do this is smudging, or burning a bundle of sage. Open a window in each room, so the unwanted vibes have a place to exit. Then light the end of the bundle and walk around in a counterclockwise motion with the intention of purification, spending some extra time in the corners of each room. Use an abalone shell or small dish/bowl to catch any falling ashes from the sage, and of course never leave a burning bundle unattended. A smoke cleanse can also be done by incense. If you’re looking for a no burn method, there are sage cleansing sprays that allow you the same cleansing properties of the herb, smoke free. Sound can also be a cleansing method, using either sound bowls, bells, chimes, chants or words. Cleanse in whatever way feels right to you, or mix and match methods for a super cleanse.
Plant Something or Start a Garden
Getting your hands dirty is always a good idea in the spring. Try to plant some herbs, flowers or vegetables that you can use and enjoy in your home. As you plant each seed, set an intention for it, be it happiness, abundance, or love. This can help keep you accountable when it comes to care, especially if you are lacking in the green thumb department or are a neglectful plant parent. Of course, you could always find easy to grow plants too, and it’s best to consider light and soil conditions for what you wish to grow, whether it’s indoor or outdoor. Take the opportunity to repot any house plants, giving them more space and fresh soil to grow — you can also give new intentions to existing plants. Show some love to the plants.
Connect To Nature
Early spring is an excellent time to connect to the natural world. Flowers seemingly pop-up and bloom before your very eye, the song of the birds, or the way the sunlight dances through the trees. Going on a spring hike or taking frequent walks is an ideal practice to take up this time of year. Head to your local park to sit on the grass and soak in the sunshine. Going outside and connecting with nature reinvigorates our spirits, especially during Spring. The Sun represents our soul, according to Astrology it is exalted in Aries (early spring) meaning it’s the perfect time to appreciate it’s life and warmth, along with its life-giving force. Many ancient cultures used the natural elements of the season in order to decorate. You can do the same by adding some spring-inspired personal touches, like crafting your own wreath or piecing together a pretty seasonal bouquet. Breath new life into your personal space by bringing some of the season indoors too.
Renewal
Spring encompasses the theme of rebirth and renewal. Just like nature, we too must focus on cleaning out what’s gone slate and beginning again. Self-care, in the form of baths, massages, steams, etc. are amazing for feeling refreshed. Any kind of safe detox, or eatting cleaner around this time can quickly help raise our vibration. This season is about cultivating vitality, implementing a physical exercise routine is also beneficial. Aries Season is Mars ruled, so getting our blood pumping gives us energy and stamina to keep up with everyday life and reach our goals. In many ways the Spring Equinox is like the true new year, so pay attention to wellness, habits and goals. Speaking of your aspirations for the year…
Set Intentions
Last but not least the spring is for setting intentions. Metaphorically planting the seeds of what you wish to grow in the coming year. Take a moment to set goals, write down a list and really define what you are trying to achieve. Make a vision board, set daily affirmations or light an intention candle. Claim that what you are seeking is already yours. Do anything that will give you the confidence to carry out your plans and desires in the coming year.
