Tarot Advice For 3 Zodiacs Who Need To Escape Negative Thoughts
When life is difficult, it can often feel like everything is against you in a universal pile-on – which is why it’s important that you always be your own fierce self-advocate.
While giving ourselves constructive and informed criticism can help us grow, trauma and conflict can lead this constructive inner voice towards a more negative space. Taurus, Sagittarius, and Capricorn in particular are wrestling with their inner critic. Our tarot reader has created a tarot spread and tarot readings for them to help guide them in their escape from their negative thoughts.
The cards pulled include:
- Your Past Self – Where You Were
- Your Current Self – Where You Are
- Your Higher Self – Your authentic self, without all the baggage that currently limits you? What is the part of yourself you should focus on and nourish?
- Your Unhealthy Cycle – What cycle / trap are you caught in?
- Your Critic – What is the approach of your inner critic / the source of your negative self-talk?
- Advice – Some advice going forward
Taurus
Past Self: Two of Swords. We’re often challenged to make decisions on very little information, but when you’re dealing with negative self-talk it can wear away confidence and make the decision-making process much more difficult. There are times when deciding nothing is making a choice.
Current Self: Page of Cups. Despite setbacks and challenges with decision-making, you feel attuned with yourself and your desires, and are experiencing a time of creative inspiration and possibilities.
Higher Self: Ten of Pentacles. Your higher, most inspirational and aspirational self is expressed through security of your legacy – not just for your sake, but for your family and dearest friends as well.
Unhealthy Cycle: Two of Pentacles, Reversed. Your inner critic and negative self-talk has you convinced the only way towards creating the foundations for your legacy require every hour of your day and every ounce of your strength. Instead of allowing yourself time to finish tasks, you try to perform them as ‘efficiently’ as possible, allowing for shortcuts that ultimately lengthen the time you need. You try to perform more – taking on more tasks and multi-tasking instead of focusing. All of these efforts to decrease your time and energy spent lead into more time and energy being spent!
Critic: Judgement, Reversed. A lot of your inner critic’s barbs are centered on your self-doubt, and tear away at your sense of identity. It’s difficult to center your focus on your higher self when your inner critic seems hell-bent on destroying the person you wish to be.
Advice: The Hierophant. There is a spiritual lesson in this – that our critic is a part that is attempting to protect us from the outer critic that we would find in society. Instead of allowing negative self-talk free reign of your mind and energy, redirect your critic. Remind them that it’s your authenticity that you are seeking – not approval.
Sagittarius
Past Self: The Magician. You recently felt like you were empowered, and making all the things happen in your life that you needed. You didn’t feel a lack of resources, and the more productive you were, the more your confidence in your path and your talents built up.
Current Self: Eight of Wands, Reversed. You tied your identity and your sense of self-worth to your productivity, allowing your fiery nature to propel you forward. When delays that were out of your control started cropping up, negative self-talk started in soon after.
Higher Self: King of Pentacles. You are generous in nature and spirit, and since Jupiter is your ruling planet you do have a fair amount of luck on your side. You tend to share abundance when you receive it, and often are creative and energetic enough to lead businesses into prosperity.
Unhealthy Cycle: Ten of Swords, Reversed. Persistence and resilience are part of how you operate, but it often blinds you to when a situation is ‘showing you the door.’ There are times when you need to acknowledge that something isn’t working, let it go, and allow yourself the time and space to heal and recuperate.
Critic: The Star. It can be hard when life beats the optimism out of someone. It’s particularly brutal when the person is often the one whose optimistic energy makes the difference, and their ability to put a positive spin on anything can lift even the bleakest spirits. Try to reframe and redirect the inner critic’s energy from pessimism towards optimism. You don’t have to be toxically positive – just reframe the situation, centered on faith in yourself.
Advice: Page of Swords. Your curiosity and quest for growth and truth will help you escape those negative thoughts that take so much of your energy. Use your passion for learning to fuel your confidence.
Capricorn
Past Self: Three of Wands. You were recently hard at work at preparing a large project. You used your grounded insight to imagine opportunities for expansion, and started putting in the work to build a solid foundation that you could use to grow your creative enterprises.
Current Self: Six of Pentacles. You are generous with the abundance that you are experiencing. Investing in your community – of friends or your actual neighborhood – is a great way to reconnect with the higher aspects of yourself by understanding what charity gives to the receiver.
Higher Self: The Lovers. Your higher self understands the strength of love – and that who and how we love ultimately reflects our spirit. It’s through our partnerships and relationships that we’re able to build and create unity and harmony, and through sharing the abundance that we’re able to deepen our experiences.
Unhealthy Cycle: Nine of Swords, Reversed. You’re not resting, because you’re busy running through possible scenarios that you need to plan for. The issue? Most of the scenarios you are creating are negative, and growing worse. The anxiety is rooted in fears deep within you, and the more you feel paralyzed by fear, the more those fears gnaw away at your mind.
Critic: Queen of Wands, Reversed. Part of the wound your critic is inspired by has to do with the fact you have needs that aren’t being met – and you may not even know that you have them. You’ve been so busy making things happen and getting to a place that you could feel is solid ground that you haven’t been taking care of your mental and emotional health. Your inner critic and negative thoughts latch on to how much you’ve given, and how much you (at your worst) feel you lack. Remember that your critic is an aspect of your advocate – try to focus on advocating for what you are building and your vision.
Advice: The Fool. It’s not your natural mode to have faith that the universe has your back – you are more attracted to situations where you can feel the solid ground beneath your feet. But this is a new journey, and one that will require that you trust you can handle what will come, even if it’s something you’ve never directly experienced before.
