These Are The Rarest Zodiac Signs

If you’re into astrology, you may consistently ask one magic question to everyone in your life: “What is your zodiac sign?”

While you may hear plenty of people respond with Scorpio, Gemini, or Virgo, you may have noticed that some zodiac signs aren’t as common as others. In fact, birth rate data shows that some zodiac signs are rarer than others—and one is the rarest zodiac sign.

To determine this, we looked at data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and their data surrounding births in the United States as of 2021. Over the years, a general trend of certain months containing fewer births translates to fewer zodiac signs associated with those months.

So, the question remains—which are the rarest zodiac signs?

Aquarius

Aquarius is always a sign that stands out from the rest. Naturally, it shouldn’t come across as too much of a surprise that Aquarius is the rarest zodiac sign! The main reason for this is the lower number of births in February, and those born between January 20th and February 19th fall under the sign of Aquarius. If your birthday falls between those dates, then congrats—you’re amongst those born with the rarest zodiac signs!

What To Know About Aquarius

Aquarius is a fixed air sign ruled by the planet Uranus (and shares a co-ruler of Saturn with Capricorn), giving a natural desire to shake things up and defy the status quo. They are represented by the water bearer, and have their own unique sense of style, perception, and approach to the world around them. They are considered innovative and determined to blaze their own path, regardless of what society dictates. They are adaptable to multiple points of view but can be stubborn when it comes to their personal beliefs and morals.

Capricorn

Coming in a close second, Capricorn is the second-rarest zodiac sign. Similar to Aquarius, Capricorn falls during the winter months between December 22nd and January 19th and has fewer births overall.

What To Know About Capricorns

Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign ruled by Saturn, making Capricorns hard workers and extremely determined to play by the rules to get where they want to be. While they won’t adhere to structures that don’t make sense, they are likelier to stick with tradition— “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” rings true for many Capricorns. They are represented by the sea goat, making them dependable and loyal and striving to be the best in their chosen path. It’s not uncommon for these signs to take on more than they can handle in an attempt to come out on top.

Aries

While not falling during the winter season, Aries is the third-rarest zodiac sign! Aries marks the start of the zodiac as the first sign on the wheel and can signify fresh starts. Aries’s season falls between March 21st and April 19th and ushers in not only the Spring season but also the astrological new year!

What To Know About Aries

Aries is a cardinal fire sign ruled by the planet Mars, giving them a fiery, bold, and, at times, aggressive personality to take on the world. Aries can be a bit impulsive and may prefer to act first and ask questions later in their lives. They are represented by the ram and can be excitable and passionate, making for adventurous companions and romantic partners, but their stubbornness and hot-headed temper can be a handful for those who are more passive or reserved. Aries is often well-suited for leadership roles, particularly in delegating tasks to ensure the entire group accomplishes the goal. They can be playful and energizing and aren’t afraid of letting loose and having a good time.
