4 Zodiac Signs That Are Always Paranoid
In clinical terms, paranoia is a psychological disorder that originates in feelings of powerlessness, isolation, and victimization. Paranoid people are anxious, fearful, suspicious, and prone to thinking that the world is out to get them. They can even take bad weather personally.
While it’s justified to worry about legitimate threats, paranoid people worry about everything. They even worry that they worry too much. Because they treat others as potential enemies, they wind up alienating others, and it becomes a vicious cycle.
Here are the four zodiac signs most prone to paranoid thinking. For comic effect, I’ve overstated exactly how paranoid these signs are, fully realizing that I risk making them even more paranoid in the process. (I’m talking about you specifically, and don’t pretend that you don’t know who you are. You know exactly who you are.)
1. Scorpio
Rulers of the eighth house and naturally intense, Scorpios can see the dark side in everything, even if they have to make it up. Secretive and sly, they are masters of deception, so they often expect that everyone else is lying, too. It turns out that in many cases, they’re just projecting. Of all the signs, they are the most likely to have grown up in an unsafe environment, and when you’re not used to security, you’re always looking over your shoulder, waiting for something to go wrong. The sad and tragic thing is that in most instances, such keening paranoia becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. In extreme cases, some Scorpios just won’t feel comfortable unless bad things are happening.
2. Virgo
So easily disappointed that they are prone to crying every time that the sun sets because they fear that it might never come back, Virgos can take an unintended slight so personally that they turn a firecracker into a nuclear bomb. If someone doesn’t immediately return their text, their mind will start spinning through an escalating array of anxiety-inducing scenarios: It says they read it. They must not have liked it. Or maybe they have it set so that it says they read it even if they didn’t read it. What if they don’t like me? Why can’t they just be honest and say they don’t like me? It’s not bad enough that they don’t like me, but they have to make it worse by lying about it?
3. Aries
As a fire sign ruled by Mars—the planet of warriors—Aries is a natural-born leader who struggles, strains, and strives to occupy and keep the top spot in every hierarchy and pecking order. But like they say, it’s lonely at the top. Everyone else also wants to be number one. To Aries, this means that everyone else is always angling for their top spot—plotting, scheming, gossiping, undermining, and conniving, all while pretending to be their best friend, confidante, and most trustworthy personal advisor. Like a Mafia boss who can’t trust anyone, Aries sees everyone as a potential backstabber.
4. Capricorn
As the hardest-working sign in the zodiac biz, Capricorn finds themselves in a bit of a pickle—they know that no one else tries as hard as they do, and they’re not being paranoid about this. But they also suspect, sometimes justifiably but often with no reason at all, that others will start slacking and allowing Capricorn to wind up doing all the work. This also allows Capricorn to blame everyone but themselves when something goes wrong. Sometimes it is everyone else’s fault. But other times, it isn’t. And this is how Capricorn permits themselves a paranoid little loophole with which to avoid personal responsibility for their own failures.
