You’re always running around, doing favors for everyone else. However, you need to take this month to think about yourself for a change. You have needs, too. Your comfort is important, too. Even though you’re a people pleaser who loves to take care of everyone else, you need to put some effort into taking care of yourself. After all, you’ll burn yourself out if you’re not careful. You don’t want to invest all your energy in solving other people’s problems while ignoring your own problems. You won’t have enough energy to take care of your loved ones if you neglect yourself. You won’t be able to help if you end up running on fumes. Putting yourself first now might feel uncomfortable, but it will be better for everyone in the long run.
You’re always working your ass off because you have huge career goals for yourself. You don’t want to take a day off because you’re worried about falling behind. You know you need to put in one hundred percent of your effort if you’re going to succeed, and you’re willing to do the hard work. However, that doesn’t mean you need to make yourself miserable in the process. You might feel guilty whenever you take a break, but you need to remember that resting is productive, too. It will help you recharge so you can get back to work with a clear head. If you never give yourself a break, then you’re going to find yourself making silly, avoidable mistakes. Even though your dreams are big, you need to rest to reach them.
There are so many things that you want to accomplish throughout your lifetime. However, you have plenty of time. You don’t have to rush yourself. You don’t have to worry about sticking to some imaginary timeline. You’re stressing yourself out by pushing yourself too hard. While it’s important to have high standards and expectations of yourself, you can’t kick yourself when your day isn’t as productive or exciting as you’d hoped. You treat everyone else with kindness and compassion. You need to start doing the same for yourself. You need to go easy on yourself when you’re struggling to reach a goal or roll out of bed without smashing snooze. Some days aren’t meant to be a wild adventure. They’re meant to be cozy and warm.
You’ve been incredibly stressed these last few weeks, maybe even months. You owe it to yourself to sit back and relax for a little while. You deserve a break because your mental health matters. Even though you could physically keep going, that doesn’t mean it would be a good idea for you emotionally. Sometimes, you need to schedule some me-time where no one is around to bother you or ask for your assistance. You need to give yourself permission to be selfish. Give yourself permission to put your to-do list on hold. You don’t need to accomplish everything right this minute. You can take a second to breathe. You can give yourself a lazy day every once in a while.
