5 Zodiac Signs That Are Selective Eaters

As opposed to “picky” eaters, who are fussy and even neurotic about what foodstuffs they consume, “selective” eaters are more discriminating about their dietary choices for a variety of reasons, including health, habit, tradition, and even snobbery.

There are even genetic reasons for why some people avoid certain foods. Some people are born with tastebuds that make cilantro taste like soap to them. If you carry the “bitter taste receptor gene,” you may be repelled by cruciferous vegetables such as Brussels sprouts. There are scent-related genes which could make you avoid things such as cheese or coffee. Some people may be dietary conservatives, meaning they are reluctant to eat unfamiliar foods. Or for various psychological reasons, you may dislike foods with slimy or crunchy textures

But as in most things, the stars above can give you certain personality traits which lure you toward certain food habits and away from others.

Here are five zodiac signs who lean toward being very choosy about what they eat. There’s a reason that the more adventurous and nonconformist signs such as Sagittarius and Aquarius are not on this list.

1. Virgo

As the most obsessively perfectionistic sign of them all, Virgos can be painfully meticulous about what they put in the sacred temple that they call their body. They veer toward health-consciousness, so they are more likely than other signs to fret about caloric content, the glycemic index, organic foods over processed, and methods of preparation. They don’t mind eating strange or exotic foods so long as they can be assured that it passed the most stringent quality tests. They are more germophobic than other signs, so they may bring their own condiments, spices, and silverware to a restaurant rather than risk infection from a careless or slovenly food server.

2. Leo

This fire sign ruled by the Sun and represented by Lion is fiercely egocentric. Just like all the planets revolve around the Sun, Leos tend to think that the entire universe revolves around them. They are somewhat health-minded, but more because they’re vain about their appearance than because taking care of themselves is the right thing to do. They mostly stick to the same eating habits for a very simple and obvious reason—they find it almost impossible to admit when they’re wrong. Changing up their dietary habits would imply that they’d made a mistake in the past. In short, Leos would rather gulp down the same food year after year than ever swallow their pride.

3. Taurus

The Bull has two traits that combine to make them selective eaters. One is their famed stubbornness. They know what they like, and they like to stick with it. They are not very experimental when it comes to culinary endeavors. Being ruled by Venus, the planet of luxurious indulgence, usually means they are sensuous beasts who prefer to gorge themselves on high-priced foods such as caviar, Kobe beef, or white truffles. Or they may simply enjoy high-calorie, high-sugar, and high-fat desserts as a sinful indulgence. Bland and plain-tasting foods are usually a turnoff to them. Unless they’re dieting, it’s rare that you’ll find them chomping on iceberg lettuce with oil and vinegar or a simple chunk of boiled chicken with no spices. To them, such trifles are for the plebs.

4. Capricorn

The Goat is like Virgo in the regimented way they plan their feeding schedule. Not only do they feel thrown off-kilter if they don’t eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the same time each day, but they also eat with their physical health in mind. You won’t often see them gobbling down half of a cheesecake or half of a pizza, but you will find them scrutinizing the ingredients on every food package they buy at the supermarket. They also tend to hop on the latest health-food trends such as keto, the carnivore diet, or the 40-30-3o diet.

5. Cancer

With Mother Moon as their ruler, the Crab is the most maternal and home-bound sign of them all. In general, they would rather eat the same foods that their parents cooked for them, since it evokes warm feelings of security and comfort. They might eat turkey every Thanksgiving cooked and seasoned exactly the way their family made it, but they wouldn’t think of switching it up for duck or goose simply because that would be “weird.” For the most part, they prefer home-cooked meals over restaurant or delivered eats, and they want it to be prepared exactly as their forebears made it for them.
