4 Zodiacs Who Mature The Most As They Age
Characteristics of each zodiac sign carry different weight and impact as you gain experience in life and grow older. While there are certain traits or stereotypes they might never fully “grow out of”, these are the four signs whose character arcs show the biggest delta on the y-axis as the years go by, so don’t be afraid to invest in a relationship with one.
Sagittarius
Because Sagittarius is born seeking truth and information, it can seem like what they’re really chasing in their younger years is drama, and to a certain extent, that’s probably an accurate assessment. There’s a part of them that’s a little Hannah Horvath meets Anthony Bourdain, and really, really wants to live a life exciting and interesting enough to be worthy of a memoir, no matter how quirky or out there it might be.
But the thing with Sagittarius is, they are also extremely deep. They’ll take all of the craziness of their teenage years and twenties and actually process the stimuli. They’re going to sift through the breakups and the beer cans and find the shreds of truth and the life lessons learned. They are going to develop and emotional street cred of their own making, and most importantly, stand by it.
If you give this crazy class clown the chance to get their shit together, you will find an adult who knows themselves inside and out, who stands by their convictions, and will let you see right through them, not because they are shallow or superficial, but because their deep waters are pristinely transparent.
Scorpio
Even people who know nothing about astrology have at least heard a rumor about Scorpios. Whether it’s a warning to “watch out” for their in-depth mind games, or an excuse for their flighty behavior, the stereotypes have never been kind to this water sign. Most of what people see from them is a thinly veiled coping mechanism.
They want, so badly, to be the kind of person people desire, admire, and respect, but most of the so-called “damage” they inflict is just their own self-esteem getting in the way. They ghost when they’re afraid of disappointing someone. They breadcrumb when they’re afraid the real thing won’t be enough to stick around for. They manipulate when they fear asking for what they want will only get them hurt.
At least, this is their approach at their youngest and most immature. What happens as they age? They meet people who take the time to chip away at their armor. Who prove their trustworthiness and coax Scorpio out of their shell. And once they experience that, there’s no matching a Scorpio’s loyalty or devotion. It’s not all smoke and mirrors, they really can walk the big talk when they want to.
Virgo
Way, way, way back in the day, I’m talking circa Ancient Egypt, Virgos were the type who could get away with burying their heads in the sand, and planting their flags in their own stubbornness. Their insistence about always being right would have reached its pinnacle in an age where humans didn’t have the tools, science, or technology to prove them wrong.
But today? All of that’s changed. And learning to be wrong, learning to be bowled over by a world that changes faster than most of us can keep up with? That’s what’s humbling the Virgos of the world. Because every time they learn a new piece of information that shifts their world view, they develop a little more empathy and patience for the people around them. They grow. They mature into a person who is comfortable with their own fallibility.
The way they speak about things softens. They don’t make assumptions or jump to conclusions. They make space for experiences that are different from their own, and they let their curiosity run wild, carrying them to destinations they never would have arrived at if they hadn’t given themselves space to undergo a truly monumental transformation.
Leo
Leos are the 90s rom-com of the zodiac when it comes to maturing. They grew up as good looking as Alicia Silverstone or Freddie Prinze Jr., and were as popular as their most memorable on-screen icons. They didn’t undergo the same character-building hardships as their nerdier, more serious counterparts, and as a result, they came off as shallow or materialistic in high school. But can you blame them for enjoying the success the rest of us longed for in secret?
The truth is everyone is so self-obsessed at that age. Hyper-fixated on their looks and their social standing. Most of the hate Leo received was out of pure jealousy. But they look back on those years with as much shame and embarrassment as the rest of us do when it’s all said and done. They’re not proud of the way they let their insecurity rule over their behavior, and there are plenty of things they did to other people they would willingly take back.
But as an adult? Leo really does learn from these mistakes. They become warmer, more inclusive, and more genuine than ever. Nothing about an evolved Leo could ever be labeled fake or shallow, they really do become the real deal, the golden boy or girl does merit that gold standard in adulthood, but not for being good looking or fun to be around. They’ve earned it for having the kindest, biggest heart you could find.
