Which ‘Friends’ Character Is Your Zodiac Sign’s Perfect Match?

Could there be a more iconic 90s TV show than Friends? Whether you love the long-running series, hate it, or are ambivalent about it, you probably know the main characters and a few of their defining characteristics. But have you ever wondered which Friends star you are, based on your zodiac sign? Are you Monica, making you tidy, organized, and a generous friend? Or are you more like Ross, a die-hard romantic with a melancholy streak? Here’s which Friends character matches your zodiac sign, and how astrology explains your similarities.

Aries: Mike Hannigan

Paul Rudd’s loveable character appeared in 16 episodes of Friends as Phoebe Buffay’s partner. Fans watched their fun relationship blossom and ultimately turn into marriage. Like the typical Aries, Mike is clever, competitive, and supportive. His childish, sillier side shines when he’s with quirky Phoebe, like raising her box of rat babies or changing their names to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock and Crap Bag. And Paul Rudd is actually an Aries in real life! Aries is also highly compatible with Phoebe’s zodiac sign, which will be revealed later in this article.

Taurus: Gunther

Despite appearing in 56 episodes of Friends, Central Perk manager Gunther never got a last name. He is hard-working, steady, and (presumably) good in the kitchen – all typical Taurus traits. Taurus is a fixed sign, and fixed signs don’t give up easily, as shown by Gunther carrying a torch for Rachel Green season after season.

Gemini: Janice Litman-Goralnik (née Hosenstein, previously Litman)

Janice is arguably one of the show’s most memorable characters (who can forget the sound of her voice saying, “Oh! My! God!”). Besides her unique voice, she is best known for being Chandler’s on-and-off girlfriend, appearing in 18 episodes of the series. Geminis are well-versed in rocky relationships – they are so mercurial that it can be challenging for them to maintain a stable romance. Janice is both lovable and exasperating, annoying yet adorable – perfectly exemplifying the Gemini duality.

Cancer: Carol Willick

Cancer is known as the “mother of the zodiac,” and we see Carol’s journey to becoming a mother on the show. Cancer is also guided by the moon, the celestial body that almost always keeps part of itself hidden. It took Carol a while to understand herself, and she concealed part of her nature as she navigated her marriage and sexuality. Ultimately, she discovered who she was and embraced her true identity, stepping into the light like the beautiful shine of a full moon.

Leo: Chandler Bing

Leos love attention, and Chandler always seems to manage to steal the scene with a clever joke or a quick comeback. Like the big-hearted Leo, Chandler is also very generous with his friends, going so far as to make up a gambling card game to play with Joey so his gullible roommate won’t feel bad about Chandler giving him money. Leo is even actor Matthew Perry’s real sign (Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow are also Leos)!

Virgo: Monica Geller

This one is too easy – obsessed with cleanliness, organization, and cooking? Must be a Virgo! Not only does Monica Geller embody these typical Virgo traits, but she is also a wonderfully generous and thoughtful friend, just like the sign of the virgin. She opens her home to Rachel when needed, and her place is the central gathering spot for the friend group.

Libra: Rachel Green

Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and beauty – so is it any surprise that fashion maven and beauty queen Rachel Green belongs to this zodiac sign? Besides having the typical Libra charm and good looks, Rachel’s love life (particularly her tumultuous relationship with Ross) is at the heart of Friends. No one on the show better represents the sign of the scales than Rachel, from her first appearance in a wedding dress to finding her way in the fashion world to ending up with one of her best friends.

Scorpio: Ross Geller

From his dark and brooding appearance to his deadpan humor, Ross is such a Scorpio. Scorpios are curious and ambitious, which explains why Ross was a highly successful paleontologist. Being a Scorpio also explains why he and Rachel had a tough time getting together, since neighboring zodiac signs typically clash in romantic relationships. As a bonus, Scorpio is actor David Schwimmer’s actual star sign!

Sagittarius: Joey Tribbiani

Joey is a typical Sagittarius – free-spirited, easy-going, and hilarious. Sagittarius is guided by Jupiter, the planet of luck. The soap opera star doesn’t take anything too seriously and things always seem to work out for him, indicating Jupiter’s influence. Affable and genuine, Joey portrays the sign of the archer perfectly.

Capricorn: Dr. Richard Burke

Tom Selleck played Monica’s much older boyfriend, whom she first met as a friend of her parents. Capricorn is considered the “father of the zodiac” and, although Richard was reluctant to become a father again with Monica, he definitely has “zaddy” energy. Capricorns are also incredibly ambitious, and Richard was hard-working enough to become an esteemed eye doctor. And Capricorns are compatible with fellow earth sign, Virgo Monica.

Aquarius: Phoebe Buffay

Whimsical and unique, Phoebe couldn’t be any other sign besides Aquarius. Aquarians march to the beat of their own drum, and they’re never afraid to stand up for what they believe in. Phoebe is the only one in the friend group who isn’t related to, dating, or living with another friend, showing her Aquarius independence. But, in their time of need, she always shows up for her friends, just like the sign of the water bearer.

Pisces: Emily Waltham

Pisces is perfectly represented by Emily, the English woman Ross marries at the end of season 4. Pisces is a very romantic sign, as shown by the couple’s whirlwind romance on the show. Pisces people are also very forgiving, often ignoring red flags for the sake of keeping the peace. Emily goes with the flow and forgives Ross even when he says another woman’s name (Rachel) at the altar. She is dreamy and loving, but ultimately chooses herself when she realizes she can’t trust Ross.
