Ranking The Zodiac Signs By Most To Least Compatible With Leo

Note: It’s important to keep in mind that astrological compatibility goes beyond your Sun sign, and any two signs can make a relationship work if they strive to. However, some pairings may find a connection easier than others.

Aries

An intriguing fire-sign match, Aries and Leo mesh quite well. Both signs are confident and unafraid to take charge while leaning into their passionate side with ease. Of course, this can sometimes lead to a clashing of egos. Undoubtedly, though, Aries is big about expressing their feelings, and they aren’t afraid to make the leap—something Leo adores. Leo enjoys validation but isn’t codependent and prefers to have a partner alongside them. These two together know how to keep the sparks flying.

Sagittarius

Another fire sign match with serious potential, Sagittarius and Leo share the fun-loving, adventurous vibes that make for a romance bursting with excitement. Sagittarius sits in Leo’s 5th House of Romance and Creativity, making this pair the type to get their flirt on. Sag will create some serious muse inspiration for Leo. Sagittarius is more than willing to give Leo the space they need to do their own thing, and Leo isn’t intimidated by Sagittarius’ explorative nature.

Gemini

It’s no surprise that Gemini and Leo make a pretty strong pair. Gemini knows how to work a room and keep things interesting, which is often why Leo is drawn to them. While Gemini has a reputation for not wanting to stay tethered to one person, Leo is a sign that makes them feel seen and heard, which they don’t want to pull away from. Leo often wants attention, and Gemini is great at making them feel valued and on top of the world. These two are also ambitious and supportive of each other’s dreams and goals.

Libra

Another air and fire pair that can meet power couple standards, Leo and Libra have what the other needs (at least on a basic level). Leo wants to feel cherished, adored, and supported—something Libra excels in. Libra wants to feel taken care of and encouraged, appreciating someone unafraid to take the lead—all things that come to Leo naturally. If Leo is the star of the show, Libra is in the wings, ensuring everything runs smoothly. Of course, the only small hiccup is each sign tends to be a tad possessive yet desiring attention from others, so communication is key to ensure the two aren’t harboring any unwarranted jealousy.

Leo

Listen, if anyone gets a Leo, it’s a Leo. Truly, a double Leo pair has its pros and cons, and they should all be considered. Leos understand what the other wants and needs, which can create a strong foundation. However, if these two let their egos go unchecked, they may feel the need to be competitive. However, if these two can be clear about their feelings and open with each other, they could make an ideal pair.

Aquarius

Ah, Aquarius and Leo—these two signs can either be each other’s soulmates or shatter their hearts, depending on the circumstances. Aquarius and Leo are directly across from each other on the zodiac wheel, meaning that each sign rules the other’s 7th House of Relationships. These two often have similar desires and agree upon enough to build a firm foundation, yet they have very different notions about how to achieve their goals and aspirations. Leo can teach Aquarius to value themselves more and to take charge of situations, whereas Aquarius can teach Leo to value the input of others and sit back when necessary. Naturally, these two may also get under each other’s skin and know exactly what to say or do to achieve that goal, making partnership difficult if they stay rooted in their fixed sign ways.

Capricorn

Out of all the earth signs, Capricorn stands the best chance of working with a Leo. Capricorns and Leos both value being the best at what they do, and they can appreciate that about each other. They are determined and aren’t likely to give up at the first sign of trouble. However, this can cause tension if they can’t accept each other’s approaches. Leo is bold, brash, and unashamed, which can be offputting to Capricorn, who believes in a certain level of decorum. Capricorns tend to be aloof and detached, which can frustrate Leo if they don’t feel they are being valued. In this way, the two may struggle to be their fullest selves (and neither sign is okay with being stifled). If they can accept and embrace their differences, they stand a chance.

Cancer

Water and fire don’t always mix, so a Cancer and Leo duo may want to proceed cautiously. It’s not that there isn’t any possibility—these two definitely value being loved, admired, and cherished without restraint. However, Cancers aren’t afraid of expressing their emotions, which may sometimes feel overwhelming to Leo. Leos can also be so focused on their goals that Cancer feels neglected. If these two can focus on communication, they may be able to avoid serious fallout, but otherwise, the differences may feel too great.

Taurus

Taurus and Leo are a pairing that can work under certain circumstances, but that must be understood upfront. Taurus may not have any issue with a Leo who takes the lead and desires the spotlight as long as they are assured security and loyalty. Leo likely won’t oppose a Taurus who leans into their routines and structures, as long as Leo feels loved and respected. However, these two fixed signs like things their way and aren’t the best with compromise. Each may desire to try and change the other, which won’t go over well.

Scorpio

In some ways, you would assume Scorpio and Leo would make a passionate pair, and you’d be correct. These two know how to light each other’s fires in ways others can’t, and it can make the dynamic addicting. However, on a foundational level, these two struggle to connect. Scorpio wants full focus and isn’t too keen on Leo going far — even to pursue their goals. Leo can resent Scorpio’s possessive tendencies and feel they are holding them back. Ultimatums may be common in this pairing because they always feel the need to gain higher ground. They can’t always work as a team, so each one tries to be the winner, putting too much pressure on the relationship.

Virgo

These two struggle to work mainly because they both try to make each other “better,” but they have wildly different ideas of what that means. Leo can push Virgo to loosen up, which isn’t a bad thing, but Virgo can’t always be the one to “chill” when there is work to be done. Virgo can push Leo to strive for more, which has its perks, but Leo can feel they always come up short in Virgo’s eyes. Each one has exceptionally high standards that make the other feel inadequate in the long run.

Pisces

While a Pisces and Leo match isn’t totally doomed, they have to put in a lot of effort to make it work. Pisces can provide serious inspiration to Leo, but the water sign can be a little too sensitive for the fire sign’s tastes. Leos can try to help ground Pisces in reality, but they often do so in a way that makes Pisces feel unappreciated. Pisces strives to understand. Leo strives to push through. This leave Pisces feeling steamrolled and intimidated and Leo feeling frustrated. If these two can make more room for the other’s approaches, there can be something worth holding onto, but it’s an uphill climb.
