What Your Moon Sign Says About Your Creativity

Aries

If you have an Aries moon, you probably create best in solitude. Without the distractions of real life, the problems and worries that often plague your mind, you’re able to put your heart into your work and make something meaningful. This doesn’t mean that group projects are an impossibility but that it’s easiest for you to focus on your creativity when the world around you is a neutral backdrop to your ideas. Invest in a private workspace if you haven’t already.

Taurus

Sometimes, it may feel like you’re staring at the metaphorical blank page with absolutely nothing left to say. This is because, if you have a Taurus moon, you are deeply inspired and creatively energized by the art of other people. You cannot conjure grand ideas in a vacuum. If you’re blocked, try consuming media by artists that you enjoy. There’s nothing like a poem, a film, a song to remind you why the act of creation is so important.

Gemini

Those with a moon in Gemini are known for being creative, imaginative, and eager to explore different avenues of expression. There’s a playfulness to the Gemini moon that shines through in artistic pursuits and projects. Don’t be afraid to lean into that urge, even if that urge may seem a little out of the box! Trust your instincts as well as your ability to pull all of the working pieces of your art together. You are capable of bringing the abstract into reality.

Cancer

To feel the various colors and emotions of your surroundings may seem like a burden, but to someone with a Cancer moon it only serves to fuel their creative energy. You have a unique ability to experience the world intimately, which only gives you more material to work with when you feel tapped out on a personal level. Just don’t get so caught up in feeling it all that it brings you down in the process. When it’s time to step away and recenter, you’ll know.

Leo

You’re constantly seeking different mediums to pour yourself into, too full of energy to settle on one project for too long. There’s value in being able to shift gears at a moment’s notice, Leo moon, but there’s also value in finishing what you’ve started. What would happen if you fought against your restless nature and put all of your fire into one place? Don’t be afraid of the finality of endings—there’s always another beginning around the corner.

Virgo

Those with a Virgo moon have the gift of being able to step away from a project and evaluate it objectively. As any artist will tell you, it’s hard to develop an unbiased perspective, and especially hard to separate yourself from your art in order to see what may need to be edited or tweaked. Where you really shine in the creative process is in your tireless revision and dedication to finding the very best version of everything you create. Hold onto that skill.

Libra

Libra moons may find that they need a trusted confidante to bounce ideas off of. After enough time alone they’re talking in circles, feeling like every idea they have has been done before (and better) by someone else. When they’re given the opportunity to discuss their work with someone that they respect and trust, however, the tune of the Libra moon often becomes something sweeter. Stop beating your head against the wall and just talk to someone.

Scorpio

Sometimes you need to let people in, Scorpio moon. Keeping all of your projects so close to your chest is fine, but everyone can benefit from a second pair of eyes at some point in the creative process. Don’t be afraid to show off an unfinished piece of your art. Nobody is going to think of you as lesser for exposing yourself as human, as someone that could probably stand to take a few edits. I know your art is personal but it needs legs to stand on its own, too.

Sagittarius

You can tell a Sagittarius moon is feeling creative when they begin diving into other people’s art, feeding their brain with images, words, sounds, and ideas. What’s difficult for them, however, is getting started. They feel so excited about their new purpose that to begin, to finally put their intangible thoughts into reality, seems daunting. It’s natural to be nervous about something you’re so passionate about, but don’t let that prevent you from creating at all.

Capricorn

If you have a Capricorn moon, you probably keep your creative projects well organized. You’re good at setting deadlines and mapping out the tasks you need to accomplish. In the same breath, though, you get down on yourself when you don’t meet the expectations that you set (even when they’re wildly unrealistic). Get back to why you began making art in the first place, before it was something you needed to set a schedule for.

Aquarius

The creativity of the Aquarius moon comes in spurts. They’re used to acting quickly when inspiration arrives, then waiting around until it strikes again. Despite the fleeting nature of this spark, those with an Aquarius moon have unique ideas and are incredibly artistic. Imagine what you could do if you tried to set a consistent schedule for yourself. You might be surprised by how easy it really is to get out of a block.

Pisces

If you have a Pisces moon, tapping into your creative side is probably a primary method of healing in your life. Art is more than just a hobby or a job, it is something that sustains your heart. For that reason, it’s something that you take very personally. When you do show your art off, you’re averse to criticism of any kind. Critiques of your work are not attacks on you or what you’ve overcome–don’t take it all so seriously, even if your art is.
