Your Gym Personality/Vibe, Based On Your Zodiac Sign

The gym is a big melting pot of people, especially at your local big box gym. There are the weekend warriors who show up faithfully Friday-Sunday and feel the burn, dedicated dailies who are there seemingly 24/7 and always working hard, the cardio connoisseurs who have tested and utilize every piece of cardio equipment from rowers to treadmills to stationary bikes, and the heavy lifters who are belting up and pushing themselves to new strength heights every week.

Outside of these, there are even more types of people with the same common goal of wanting to get into shape and be their healthiest selves. If you’re just starting at the gym or are unsure what to do when you get to the gym, maybe it’s time to turn towards your star sign for advice.

Let’s take a look at what each zodiac sign does when they get to the gym for inspiration.

Aries

Aries will confidently walk into any gym and own the place. They know what they’re at the gym for and they’re super competitive with themselves, so any chance they get to challenge themselves they will. Aries can be found in HIIT classes that really get the blood pumping and the intensity boosted.

Taurus

Taurus tend to be stubborn and don’t like to do what they’re told to do. They move at their own pace and want to be in control of what they do. Because of this, you can typically find a Taurus doing some steady-state cardio like the stairmaster or treadmill and then they will leisurely move through a workout at their pace and on their own terms, even if that means not following a strict plan.

Gemini

Gemini is the sign that is constantly chatting up friends and being a social butterfly. They need something to keep their intrigue going and challenge themselves or they’ll get bored. A Gemini does well with Crossfit because of the blend of weightlifting and endurance and they get to have a chance to challenge themselves with fun things like rope climbs and handstand walks.

Cancer

Cancers want to be in a gym when it isn’t busy. They want the quiet moments and to be able to get in and out before the huge crowds come in to take up the machines. Cancers can typically be found doing endurance workouts, like rowing for long periods of time, followed by athletic movements like box jumps, battle ropes, and sled work. They want to work and want to get lost in the work.

Leo

I know it’s a cliche that Leos are vain and self-centered, but their gym situation is no different. Leos do best in a bodybuilding setting of lifting where they can focus and isolate specific muscles to build them up. Leos get a chance to view themselves as a work of art when they are bodybuilding, so it’s a win-win for them.

Virgo

Virgos are so practical and probably don’t have a ton of time to spend in the gym, so they prefer to do their work and get in and out quickly. It’s best for them to have a detailed plan ahead of time so they know exactly where to go to maximize their time in the gym. They don’t want to talk, they just want to put their headphones in and get to work for the 45 minutes they have to spare.

Libra

Libras are social and want things to be balanced in their life. They don’t fit into one box and make sure that their multiple desires and passions receive all of the same amount of time dedicated. Libras do best with a plan that allows them to cover all aspects of strength and endurance so they feel like they are accomplishing many things at once. They like to be social also, so training for strongman where they can do cardio and lift weights with friends is best for them.

Scorpio

Scorpios are intrinsically motivated and want to put their head down and do work while their headphones are in so no one can bother them. Scorpios like to challenge themselves, so something like Powerlifting where they can be totally focused on themselves and train alone while pushing for new strength gains every month is most beneficial for them.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius’ are extroverted and want to have their attention kept while working out. They always benefit by working out with friends and in groups so the group’s energy can keep them motivated. A Sagittarius would do the best training for something like HYROX that allows them to lift, then run, then lift, then run again to keep their interest piqued and to be able to compete with friends and others.

Capricorn

Capricorns are hard workers and they like consistency and routine. They will not go off on their own and prefer to stick to the plan. Capricorns do best with a progressive overload type of lifting where they have dedicated days for specific workouts that they can continue to do over a week or month time frame. The progressive overload allows them to go heavier week after week so they get a challenge without feeling like they have to change up the workout every time.

Aquarius

Aquarians are a little eclectic and like to be on their own path. Usually, that path is different than everyone else’s and that’s okay. They don’t want to fit into a specific type of training or box, so they prefer to do a hybrid program that allows them to strength train one day, do cardio the next, and then focus on athletic movements the next. They want the variety to keep them interested.

Pisces

Pisces are ruled by their feelings and their emotions. They act and react based on how they’re feeling, so for them, having a gym routine that allows them the flexibility to adjust based on their current emotion is great. For a Pisces, going with the flow is the best, so walking in and deciding what feels best that day is ideal for them. That might mean one day is entirely spent on machines and isolating muscles, the next is working on doing clean and presses and being athletic, and the next is just squatting as heavily as they can.
