Tarot Advice For Each Zodiac During Saturn’s Retrograde (7/13-11/27)

From July 13th to November 27, Saturn will be retrograde.

Saturn’s status as an outer planet means that when it goes retrograde, it tends to have more subtle effects than, say, Mercury. And yet, its impact can still be quite profound, as Saturn is the ruler of limitations and restriction.

When Saturn begins to move retrograde on July 13th, it will begin its journey in Aries. Use this time to address responsibility and accountability, especially as it pertains to what you’re passionate about. In this first phase of Saturn’s retrograde motion, you may find yourself facing how those shadowed aspects of self impact your ability to progress mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. In some ways it may feel as though all has broken loose. Be mindful that you don’t become unmoored. When Saturn moves backwards into Pisces on September 1st, you’ll find yourself turning inwards, seeking answers. You’ll contemplate what it will take to really take the reins, set appropriate boundaries, and / or how you can better use your time on your creative endeavors.

Aries

Your Card: Three of Pentacles (Reversed).

Saturn’s initial retrograde movement will find you questioning your self and your identity, and perhaps trying a few wild things on, Aries. Once it moves back into Pisces you’ll be integrating the lessons you learned about who you are – and why you do the things you do. This is an important time of self-exploration, and that doesn’t always lend itself towards communicating well, or working in groups. Learning how to communicate through these times is a skill you can only gain through practice.

Taurus

Your Card: Ten of Swords.

For all of your introspection at the beginning of the retrograde, you’ll find yourself questioning the motives and sincerity of those around you once Saturn moves back into Pisces. The Ten of Swords is telling you that there’s no question that something is over, Taurus, and by the time that Saturn moves back into direct motion – you’ll know exactly what it is. This period of personal and relational revelation will ultimately be a huge part of the person you’re becoming. While painful, remember that endings give space for something new.

Gemini

Your Card: King of Wands, Reversed.

You’ve been holding yourself back from your dreams, Gemini, and as Saturn moves retrograde in the house of your hopes and dreams – you don’t see any point in continuing to hold back. Why not go after what you want? The experience of following your heart might open you to some larger career changes when Saturn hits Pisces in September. The King of Wands, Reversed indicates that you should have some patience and watch things develop instead of throwing yourself into something bigger or deeper.

Cancer

Your Card: Eight of Swords, Reversed.

Saturn begins its retrograde motion in your tenth house, the house of structure, image, long-term goals, and legacy. If your work was largely performed behind-the-scenes, expect public acknowledgement. You’ll have a lot to reflect on when Saturn moves back into your ninth house of learning. The Eight of Swords reversed is a message that while you may feel like you are at a standstill, you aren’t actually seeing the whole picture yet, Cancer. Don’t struggle blindly, wait for things to come into focus so you can plan your move.

Leo

Your Card: Ten of Cups.

Saturn’s initial stage of retrograde will have you rethinking your beliefs, Leo. You’ll be pondering the links between who you were and how you transformed. When Saturn later moves out of your ninth house and into your eighth house of personal mysteries and intimacy in September, you’ll find yourself redirecting your energy towards something more authentic. The Ten of Cups encourages you to explore emotional fulfillment. There’s a lot of room and energy in your life for those you care about, and their harmony with you adds depth and perspective to your experience.

Virgo

Your Card: Nine of Wands.

Someone wise once said “Secret secrets are no fun, secret secrets hurt someone” and when Saturn moves retrograde in your eighth house, a lot of secrets will be coming to light, Virgo, and you will spend the second part of the retrograde considering how those secrets will impact your relationships. The Nine of Wands is a message to remind you of your resilience and your capabilities. Create sensible boundaries for yourself and others as you explore what this period of Saturn retrograde is bringing to you.

Libra

Your Card: The Moon.

You’re going to spend the first part of Saturn’s retrograde motion giving great consideration to the boundaries that you feel you need within your relationships. For you to maintain the life balance you prize, you need to create these meaningful boundaries and have them established before Saturn moves into the house of habits and systems in September. Your card is a message for you to take heed of the signs that come from within you, Libra. Trust that your inner self holds the answers to what you are looking for, what your boundaries should look like, and what you should be looking to deepen.

Scorpio

Your Card: The Lovers, Reversed.

It may not feel radical at the time, but you might find a particular delight in fine-tuning your daily routines, and shaking them up a bit, Scorpio. This doesn’t mean to throw away all of your prior work, but to re-invision how your daily tasks. Having that work under your belt will make you feel more outwardly engaging as Saturn moves into your fifth house of romance, play, and creativity in September.

The Lovers isn’t just about who we are or the choices that we make in love, because it has a lot more to say about why we make those choices and how those choices affect the harmonies (and dissonances) in our lives.

Sagittarius

Your Card: Seven of Cups.

When Saturn starts to move retrograde in your fifth house, it’s going to feel like it’s time to play, Sagittarius. Sometimes, enjoying yourself, and what the world has to offer, is just what you need. Reconnect with your joie de vivre and recapture your sense of wonder. When Saturn moves into your house of self-care and foundations, you’ll be able to better determine the best spiritual path forward for yourself. The Seven of Cups is a card about exploring all the possibilities – even the wildest ones. Let your imagination lead you to a place of levity and inspiration.

Capricorn

Your Card: Wheel of Fortune, Reversed.

You’re allowed to have needs, Capricorn, and focusing on yourself isn’t a cardinal sin. Give yourself the time and space you need to process some of the more difficult aspects of your experiences lately. Create meaningful boundaries for yourself, but be prepared to work through some friction and hurt feelings as you navigate that process. The Wheel of Fortune, Reversed is making an appearance to remind you of the toxic cycles that can be created when this work isn’t done. Cycles can be broken. Determine what you want and need, and communicate it effectively.

Aquarius

Your Card: Six of Cups.

People will be crossing your boundaries constantly, Aquarius, and quite possibly saying some overly-frank and uncomfortable things. Try not to take their feedback and criticisms personally, and be clear about what is and is not on the table for discussion with you. It might ruffle feathers, but it will set you up for success when Saturn moves into your second house and it’s time to apply what you learned to establishing priorities. The Six of Cups advises you to spend some time reaffirming who you are by revisiting the past. Remind yourself of the lessons you’ve learned and how far you’ve come.

Pisces

Your Card: Page of Cups, Reversed.

Saturn is going to start its retrograde motion in your second house, Pisces, and that means you may find yourself reevaluating how you spend your money, but more importantly how you are investing your time. That line of thinking will blossom into a realistic evaluation of who you want to become – but more importantly your plan on getting there. The Page of Cups, Reversed is a message to be pragmatic. Dreams and ideals are important – they give us an overall trajectory and help refine our sense of purpose. But they can only truly change our lives when we’re able to come up with a concrete plan to bring them into being.
