The Secret History Of Your Zodiac Symbol (And How It Clarifies Your Personality)

Each zodiac has a special symbol that encompasses the unique characteristics of that sign.

Long before horoscopes filled our feeds, each zodiac sign carried a symbol rooted in myth, legend, and ancient storytelling. These weren’t random images. They were chosen to represent the deeper instincts, strengths, and contradictions woven into each sign’s personality.

Some are fierce animals. Some are powerful mythological beings. One is even an object with surprising meaning. But behind every symbol is a story that explains why your sign moves through the world the way it does.

Here’s the secret history of your zodiac symbol and how it sheds new light on the traits that shape who you are, from the surface to the soul.

Aries: The Ram

Of course your symbol is the ram, feisty Aries! Because, like the ram, you’re aggressive and combative, charging through any obstacle that stands in your way. When you want something, you go after it with pure determination. You’re a fearless fighter who never steps down from any challenge or dare.

Taurus: The Bull

Your zodiac symbol is the bull, Taurus, which reveals your stubborn and persistent personality. You’re strong, resilient, sturdy, and reliable. Your loved ones know they can always count on you, and you’re exceptionally driven and hard-working. Although you’re generally agreeable and friendly, you know when to put your foot down and hold your ground.

Gemini: The Twins

Your star sign is represented by the twins, Gemini, which shows that your personality is multifaceted, complex, and, at times, confusing. You’re always changing and, like a chameleon, you manage to fit in everywhere you go. Your social skills help you befriend others, but you can deceive them just as easily (thus, the two faces of the twins).

Cancer: The Crab

It makes sense that your zodiac is represented by the crab, Cancer, because you both have a hard outer shell hiding the inner softness. You’re very private and protective, guarding your heart fiercely and keeping your true personality to yourself. It takes a while for you to trust others, and only a very lucky select few get to know the real you.

Leo: The Lion

Just like the fierce lion, Leo, you are the leader of the pack. You are charismatic, ferocious, and more than a little intimidating. You’re very family-oriented, building little communities everywhere you go. And, just like the king of the jungle, you can have a hot temper – and you probably have a great mane of hair, too.

Virgo: The Virgin

You’re far too evolved and dignified to have an animal representing your zodiac, Virgo. Your astrological symbol is the virgin, revealing that you are cautious, honest, and reserved. You’re drawn to nature and intellectual pursuits. You make friends easily, but may have a difficult time forming intimate bonds because you’re so guarded and careful.

Libra: The Scales

You are the only zodiac with an object rather than a living creature as your symbol, Libra! The scales reveal that you strive for balance in every aspect of life. You’re very fair, seeking to understand all sides of an argument without judgment. You’re a natural peace-maker, and social justice is important to you.

Scorpio: The Scorpion

You have a lot in common with your astrological symbol, Scorpio – you’re quiet and unassuming, yet powerful and deadly. Like the nocturnal scorpion, you creep around in the cloak of darkness, preferring to make your moves in secrecy. You’re ten steps ahead of everyone else so you always manage to get your way, whether that means landing the job you want, winning your soulmate’s heart, or even getting sweet, sweet revenge.

Sagittarius: The Archer

You are the first zodiac with a mythological creature as your zodiac symbol, Sagittarius. The archer is a centaur depicted as having the head and torso of a man, the lower body of a horse, and holding a bow with an arrow pointed at the sky. This means that you are driven, energetic, and adventurous. Being wild and free is important to you; you hate being tied down. You’re also strong and resilient, always moving forward without regretting the past.

Capricorn: The Sea Goat

You have one of the most interesting and unique symbols of all, Capricorn, which reveals a lot about your very reserved personality. The sea goat is an impossible mythical creature with the head and upper body of a goat, and the lower half of a fish. You have the determination, ambition, and strength of the goat, which is the side of you that most people see. But when they dig a little deeper and peer beneath the surface, they see that you’re really a soft, sensitive soul.

Aquarius: The Water Bearer

The water bearer is depicted as a human figure pouring water from a jug. Just as the water bearer’s task is bringing the water of life to his people, you are meant to serve and improve your community, Aquarius. With your innovative spirit and brilliant mind, you come up with brand new methods and solutions others have never invented before.

Pisces: The Fish

Your astrological symbol is two fish swimming in opposite directions, Pisces, which says so much about you. Like the fish, you happily go wherever the current takes you, proving your adaptability. But you may lose focus or get confused at times, like the two fish taking different paths. Your connection to water indicates sensitivity and a powerful sense of intuition.
