These Are All The Major Astrological Events In 2022 (And What They Mean For You)
2022 is going to be a big year, astrologically speaking. There was a ton going on in 2020 (remember The Great Conjunction?), and Saturn–Uranus squares in 2021 made for a lot of tension, but 2022 looks like it’ll be just as important.
Here are all of the major astrological events that you need to know about in 2022 so you’ll know when it’s a good time to apply for that job or why you keep running into your ex.
Taurus and Scorpio Eclipses
Eclipses occur in a pair of opposite signs for a period of about a year and a half to two years. Since June 2020, we’ve been experiencing eclipses in Sagittarius and Gemini, and now we’re moving into a new set of signs — Taurus and Scorpio.
Eclipses usher in change and bring about sudden endings or new beginnings. Because we’re shifting into new signs in 2022, you can expect a different area of your life to be impacted for the next two years until the Taurus and Scorpio eclipses end in October 2023. And since the first eclipse in this series happened on November 19th, you may have already noticed some new themes popping up.
Taurus and Scorpio are fixed signs, which means all fixed signs will be especially impacted by these eclipses. So if you’re a Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, or Scorpio, be prepared for some serious change over the next two years.
Venus Retrograde in Capricorn from December 2021 through January 2022
Venus retrograde in Capricorn started in December and continues until January 29th, 2022. Venus represents love, money, things we value, and what we find attractive. So during Venus retrograde, you can expect to reassess your values, and you might want to change up your appearance. You may experience new beginnings in your love life or run into exes, similar to how Mercury retrograde brings back flings from the past.
While you may have the urge to get your hair cut or rearrange your entire apartment, you might want to hold off. Most astrologers don’t recommend making big changes during Venus retrograde because you’ll probably end up regretting the results when the retrograde is over.
If you have planets in Capricorn in your chart, you’ll be feeling Venus retrograde extra hard this time.
Jupiter into Pisces on December 28th, 2021
Jupiter is the planet of expansion, travel, and luck, and it moved into Pisces on December 28th, 2021. Since Jupiter rules Pisces, it’ll be in its home sign, so its already positive effects will be amplified. So we’re hopefully in for an amazing start to the new year (or at least better than the end of 2021).
And we had a little preview of Jupiter in Pisces from May 2021 through the end of July 2021. Around that time, vaccinations were widely available, many COVID restrictions were lifted, and people were able to travel again. It’s no coincidence that hot vaxx summer started when Jupiter, the planet of travel and expansion, moved into its home sign where it can really work its magic.
You can expect good luck and opportunities in the area of life associated with the house that Jupiter is transiting through. So take a look and see where Pisces is in your chart. That’s where you’ll experience a ton of growth and optimism in 2022.
The United States’ First Pluto Return in February
In February, Pluto will return to the exact same place it was when the U.S. was formed (using July 4th, 1776 as a birth date), marking the United States’s first Pluto return. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, since Pluto’s orbit is super slow, and it takes around 248 years to make a full revolution through all of the zodiac signs.
Because it’s returning to the same place it was when the U.S. was formed, the same themes that were prevalent at that time are likely to come up again. And we’ve already started to see some of that instability take place in the form of political unrest, social movements, and protests over the past year.
Jupiter Conjunct Neptune in Pisces in April
Jupiter will be conjunct Neptune (which means they’ll be right next to each other from our perspective) in Pisces in April. While Jupiter is the traditional ruler of Pisces, Neptune is the modern ruler. These planets together in their home sign will make them extra powerful. During this time, you might be day dreaming a lot and feel super optimistic and idealistic. This will be a great time for creative or artistic projects. It’s basically all good vibes.
Jupiter into Aries from May to October
From May through the end of October, Jupiter will enter Aries. Wherever you have Aries in your chart, you’ll have growth, fortune, and a lot of energy. As the first zodiac sign, Aries’ traits include leadership and determination, so it’ll be a great time to use this energy to start new projects and take on challenges.
Mars Retrograde in Gemini in October
Mars retrograde happens once every two years for about two months. Because Mars is the planet of action, when it goes retrograde, you’ll have difficulty taking action and completing projects and generally won’t feel like doing things (fun!). And since it’s right at the end of the year, it’ll be perfect timing to relax and slow down through the holidays to prepare for 2023.
Since this Mars retrograde is happening in Gemini, you’ll be particularly affected by this transit if you have planets in Gemini.
